Matthew Perry Laid to Rest by Family & ‘Friends’ Co-stars: Glimpse into the Private Funeral Ceremony

Family and friends have finally bid farewell to Emmy-nominated star Matthew Perry. This comes only six days after the world learned about his tragic death.
Matthew was discovered dead on October 28, 2023, at age 54, at his Los Angeles home. News reports revealed that the television star died from an apparent drowning.

Law enforcement officers at the time disclosed that first responders rushed to the scene following a report that an individual had gone into cardiac arrest.
Matthew's assistant, who found him unresponsive in his jacuzzi, reportedly called 911 to his residence. A detailed autopsy report has yet to be released, pending additional testing to determine the Hollywood star's passing.

A day after the news of his death made headlines, Matthew's family spoke out by releasing a statement saying they were "heartbroken by the tragic loss." His loved ones added that he brought a lot of "joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend, "adding:
"You all meant so much to him, and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."

Meanwhile, "Friends" director James Burrows revealed that upon learning about Matthew's death, he texted his co-stars, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow, and shared their reaction:
"They were destroyed."
The cast mates, including David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc from the Emmy Award-winning hit '90s sitcom, later released a statement of their own, stating they were "utterly devastated" by the loss, adding:
"We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. [...] We're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."

The group further said that they would eventually comment on their beloved pal's death whenever they could. They added that until then, their "thoughts" and "love" are with Matthew's loved ones, including fans from around the globe who adored him. The message was signed by Jennifer, Courteney, Lisa, Matt, and David.
Family & 'Friends' Co-stars Bid Farewell to Matthew Perry
Ahead of Matthew's funeral, eyewitnesses reportedly saw his mother, Suzanne Perry, her husband, Keith Morrison, and sisters at Forest Lawn making funeral preparations.
The "Friends" alum's parents and siblings were reportedly seen on October 31, 2023, with a funeral home representative looking at the premises. Suzanne and Keith reportedly looked somber while dressed in black.

The family and Matthew's friends officially gathered on November 3, 2023, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills to bid farewell to him in a private burial.
The beloved actor's father, John Perry, and stepfather, "Dateline" journalist Keith, who was one of the pallbearers, were photographed arriving at his final resting place—where fellow showbiz stars such as Paul Walker, Carrie Fisher, Michael Jackson, and Elizabeth Taylor are buried.

Hollywood Hills Memorial Park is said to be opposite Warner Bros. Studios, where the fan-favorite television show "Friends" was filmed for ten years. Matthew's fellow popular co-stars, Jennifer, Courteney, David, and Lisa, were spotted arriving at the cemetery dressed in all-black attires.

According to the Daily Mail, the foursome was later joined by their co-star Matt as they all embraced and mourned for their now-late dearest friend. They were seen consoling each other outside the church following the hour-long ceremony and were photographed conversing with other mourners.
An eyewitness reportedly revealed that Jennifer, a Primetime Emmy Award winner, was the "first to arrive" at the funeral service. The famed star's security guards were seen leaving her home ahead of the ceremony, which ended with a rendition of Peter Gabriel's song "Don't Give Up."
Another source divulged that it was an emotional service, adding, "There were a lot of tears and laughter. Only close friends and family spoke." Following the ceremony, Matthew was buried in a dark wooden coffin with family only in attendance.
