Francis Antetokounmpo Grew up in Nigeria with His Grandparents
Francis was born in Nigeria to Charles Antetokounmpo and Veronica Antetokounmpo in 1988. However, his parents, who were of different Nigerian ethnic groups — Charles a Yoruba, and Veronica an Igbo — left their home country searching for new opportunities.
In doing so, they left Francis in the West African country to be raised by his grandparents. Francis only joined his family — which had grown over the years to include his four younger brothers — in Greece around his thirties.
Francis is now an Athens, Greece-based musician who dabbles in an array of music genres.
However, the distance proved not to have impacted Francis' relationship with his mom and dad, as in honor of his mother's birthday in 2018, the singer typed, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂🎂❤❤ you mean the world to me! Wishing my wonderful mother a terrific day and a fantastic years ahead! Love you so much."
Francis also celebrated his father's birthday in 2018 following Charles' unfortunate death at age 54 in September 2017. Francis took to Instagram and shared:
"Happy birthday to the best dad in the world. We love you and will forever be grateful for the love you showed us👑#KING.......keep resting in the presence of the most high God 🙏🙏. Amen."
