A woman confessed that her sister was diagnosed with cancer when she was 15 and survived it. However, her health has always been on and off, but the Redditor realized that every time she celebrated a milestone, her sister would fall sick. So, she got tired of her sister taking the spotlight.

A Reddit user took it to Reddit to express how difficult it was for her to constantly live in the shadow of her little sister. The Original Poster (OP) explained that her sister, Anna, was diagnosed with cancer when she was 15.

Her sister was fortunately able to beat cancer, but she still experienced health issues, and the family was always on edge, afraid that the cancer might have returned. While the OP empathized with her sister, she started to notice an unusual pattern.

The Redditor realized that every time her sister made an announcement that she needed to go to the hospital, it would often be at a time when she was celebrating a milestone.

At first, the OP thought it was just bad timing but noticed that it happened too often for it to be a coincidence "My graduations, my birthdays, my engagement party. Anytime she makes an announcement she needs to go back to the hospital, my whole family [flocks] to her," emphasized the OP.

When the OP had her dinner party to announce her wedding date, she was happy to see her family together and everyone having an amazing time until Anna told her mother that she needed to go to the hospital.

The attention immediately went to Anna, and the OP felt as if her family had even forgotten the reason behind their gathering because everyone was now quiet. The Redditor recalled her aunt praying for Anna ter, but after that, he maintained low contact with her sister.

When her wedding was about two weeks away, the OP was told that Anna was in and out of a wheelchair and that there was a possibility she would need to bring it to the wedding. The Redditor asked her mother if everyone in the family knew about the wheelchair, and her mother said she did not tell anyone because she did not want them to worry.

The OP insisted that her mother tell their relatives about Anna's situation, but it did not happen. So, the Redditor decided to disinvite her sister from the wedding. She said, "I am sick of her stealing the spotlight. That's what will happen if she rolls in with a wheelchair."

However, her family thought her decision was selfish, but since her mother would not tell her relatives, she planned to go to them and tell them Anna might not make it to her wedding because she's in a wheelchair and for them to keep her in their thoughts and prayers.

The Redditor turned to other Reddit users to ask if she was wrong for not inviting her sister to her wedding, and people had a few things to say. Firstly, many commenters were on the OP's side. One Reddit user advised her to privately speak to her parents and tell them that her sister has been using her health issues to sabotage every event in her life.

The commenter also suggested that the OP recount all the events where Anna has taken center stage and explain to them how they enabled her behavior. The OP was advised to tell her family that all she wanted was for her wedding to be about her.

Another commenter thought it was a good idea for the Redditor to work ahead and tell her relatives about Anna's wheelchair. While others thought her parents were wrong for always taking her sister's side.

Some commenters suggested that OP should have someone at her wedding who would keep things under control. Others warned the Redditor that her sister might still take the opportunity to create a distraction by falling out of her wheelchair or causing a scene in another way.

However, the whole situation made the OP sad because she loved her sister and felt terrible to have to love her at a distance. "At one point, I could say I loved her with all my heart, but now I can't,” expressed the OP.
