Chef Gordon Ramsay Reveals He Gives Each of His Kids an Allowance but Encourages Them to Save Each Dollar

Gordon Ramsay disclosed that each of his kids gets an allowance. Despite them getting money from him, the father of six urges them to save every dollar and recently gave some insights into how he teaches his kids to be smart when it comes to finances.

Recently, world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay, 57, sat down for an interview during which he revealed that he gives his children an allowance that amounts to a couple of hundred dollars. The British restaurateur also spoke about how he ensures that his children — Tilly, Megan, Holly, Oscar, Jack, and Jesse — whom he shares with his wife, Tana Ramsay, know the value of money.

Though Ramsay's kids have an incredibly successful dad who has done pretty well for himself financially, this does not mean that they get handouts from him without working hard. Even when they travel in business or first class, which they do with their parents, Ramsay reminds them to be responsible with their money.

One of the ways in which Ramsay instills financial responsibility in his children is by rewarding them when they save their money: "If they save that up across the twelve-month period, I would match that at Christmas for them, and they got to stay true to their form by saving every dollar..."

According to the "Hell's Kitchen" star, the way he parents his children, of which the latest member was welcomed in November last year, is entirely different from how his father had raised him when he was growing up. The celebrity chef said that his dad would tend to adopt a condescending attitude when teaching his son a lesson.

Regarding his own children, Gordon Ramsay focuses on encouraging them to find who they are as individuals and their passions and forge their own life paths, which the eldest kids of the clan have done in their career endeavors.
