Natalia Grace's New Loving Adoptive Parents Now Say 'Something Ain't Right with Natalia'
- Natalia Grace, whom her former adoptive parents accused of lying about her age, finally revealed her real age.
- Natalia appeared in a documentary with a new and loving family.
- However, it was soon revealed that the family that defended her had now disowned her.
Natalia Grace, the Ukrainian orphan whom her adoptive family accused of posing as a six-year-old, shared her side of the story in a tell-all documentary.
The girl was born with a form of dwarfism, and her former adoptive parents, Michael and Kristine Barnetts, accused her of lying about her age. The family petitioned that Natalia was not six, as stated on her legal documents, and insisted that she was 22.
In the documentary "The Curious Case Of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks," the Ukranian revealed that she had a new and supportive adoptive family. The couple that took her in, Cynthia and Antwon Mans, defended the girl against all the accusations that Michael and Kristine made.
The Barnetts had said Natalia threatened their lives and stood over their heads with knives. But she denied ever trying to stab her former adoptive mother or even having that kind of thought.
On the contrary, Cynthia and Antwon said Natalia was a sweet and well-behaved girl who got along with her siblings. In the documentary, the family held her hand when she took DNA tests that eventually proved that Natalia was a child when the Barnetts abandoned her and that her current age is 22.
However, the series' ending shocked many when Cynthia and Antwon revealed that they had disowned her. Antwon claimed, "Something ain't right with Natalia. This girl is tweakin'." The bishop continued to say, "I feel like she's the enemy in the house. And she said to us [that] we have held her hostage. Made us look like we're the enemy."
The adoptive mother also expressed that Natalia was "stabbing her family in the back over a complete lie." Cynthia continued to proclaim that she only cared about her emotions and that they were done with her.
Amid this commotion, Natalia decided to set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for a new apartment. But the 22-year-old seemed to have mended things with her family. It is still unclear what conspired between Natalia and her new adoptive family, but Cynthia spoke for the first time since the documentary aired and said that things between her and Natalia were perfect.
Although the family did not live with Natalia anymore, they revealed that they were in contact often and even shared screenshots of their recent video calls.
Looking back at her time with the Barnetts, Natalia did not believe that Kristine adopted her out of love as she claimed; instead, she believed that her former adoptive mother was just trying to "boost her ego."
She even had the opportunity to sit down with Michael and reflect on their life together. In the interview, things between the two were tense. Natalia asked him why he adopted her, and he said that they were dealing with the same "monster," referring to his ex-wife.
Michael confessed that he was a victim of abuse, adding that Kristine used to threaten and control him. He said he would have to do everything his ex-wife told him to do, or she would tell him he would never see his sons again. So Natalia asked why he didn't leave her.
Throughout these questions, Michael kept reiterating that there was no straightforward answer, but he confessed that he had tried to leave Kristine more than ten times.
After surviving many painful incidents in her life, Natalia is ready to be on her own. Her GoFundMe page reportedly reached about $20,000 but was later shut down. She explained that she wanted to use the funds to put a down payment on her apartment, start a photography business, and save up for the future surgeries and treatments she would need.
