NFL Reporter Loses His 2-Year-Old Daughter While Holding Her Hand
Recently, the Kyed family suffered the tremendous loss of their young daughter, who "died peacefully" after battling a disease for months, leaving her parents heartbroken.
NFL reporter for the Boston Herald, Doug Kyed, and his wife, Jen Crosby-Kyed, share two children: daughters Olivia and Hallie Kyed, with Hallie being the youngest child.
Hallie, born on March 28, 2021, had just turned 2 when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in April 2023, Doug revealed on social media on January 22, 2023.
The father of two disclosed that his daughter was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and battled it for nine months while admitted at Boston Children's Hospital.
According to Doug, Hallie also suffered complications amid her fight with the disease. She underwent a successful bone marrow transplant procedure in October 2023, which became "ineffective" following chemotherapy.
Doug explained, "Her aggressive form of leukemia had grown out of control by the time she started a trial treatment." The Kyed family knew that the prognosis would be unfavorable when Hallie relapsed following her bone marrow transplant, so relatives spent much of their time at the hospital in the week that followed.
Doug noted the family was hopeful for remission amid the daunting circumstances because they could see how young Hallie was "brave, strong, and resilient" during her fight with the deadly disease. However, she sadly lost the battle on January 21, 2024. He announced on Instagram:
"Hallie died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning as Jen and I held her hands in bed. We're completely lost and heartbroken."

Hallie's mother, Jen, also broke the heartbreaking news on her Instagram, writing, "She passed away comfortably and peacefully, snuggled next to Doug and me."
According to the heart-stricken mom, family members whom Hallie adored very much visited her daily and made her feel the warmth of their love for her. Jen further expressed:
"I will never understand why or how something so horrible can happen."
Jen described Hallie as a "special little person," adding she was thankful to have been a part of her life being able to love her and be her mother.
"I don't know how any of this works. I hope she woke up in an alternate universe with other versions of us and she lives a beautiful life," said Jen. Hallie's parents said she was full of life and woke up a happy child daily.
Even after she was diagnosed with leukemia, she still got up every day all excited to start her day. She loved dressing up first thing in the morning and wore different princess dresses in the hospital. The medical staff always looked forward to seeing what dress she would wear next.
In her final week of hospitalization, she demanded to go on 800 walks in a stroller. She passed on with paint on her hands as she loved painting and sparkles in her hair.
"I'll miss rubbing her hair and kissing her head and telling her I love her the most," Hallie's dad captioned his post. He further said he would update his followers about her memorial service details.
Hallie died just two months away from celebrating her third birthday. When she turned two years old in March 2023, her mother paid a birthday tribute to her on Instagram alongside photos of her smiling.
"This is 2. Love you, Hallie & your passion for princess dresses, snacks, and leisure," Jen wrote in her caption. Her husband expressed that life will never be the same again for them after losing their little girl.
They were fortunate to be her parents, and her older sister Olivia was also lucky enough to have "the best baby sister," who positively impacted many people. Doug said Hallie was a beautiful and "naturally funny" child, and she was well aware of that. She was going to be a star in dance class.
