Phenomenal singer Celine Dion has been dealing with health problems for a long time. Due to these challenges, she had to step back from her career to prioritize her health and get better. The singer announced on December 8, 2022, that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).

Celine said she had been forced to reschedule her Spring 2023 shows to 2024 and cancel eight Summer 2023 shows due to SPS. SPS is an incurable and rare neurological disorder that affects less than 5,000 people in the US.

The singer added that she'd been having spasms due to the illness, which have affected every aspect of her daily life, including how she walks and not allowing her to use her vocal cords to sing the way she was used to.

Celine told her fans that not being able to go on her tour hurt her so much but that she had a great team of doctors working with her to understand the rare illness, help her get better, and be back on stage. She revealed that her kids, René-Charles Angélil and twins Nelson and Eddy, supported her and gave her hope. Celine concluded that she hoped she was on her way to recovery.

Columbia University's Claire Riley, MD., has described SPS as a condition that worsens subtly, leading to a pronounced impact on movement, resulting in an awkward and uncomfortable gait. "Particularly when it is not recognized, Stiff Person Syndrome can be severe and life-altering or even life-threatening," added Claire.

In August 2022, Celine's sister, Claudette Dion, gave a health update on the singer, noting that she was doing everything to get better. "She's a strong woman," confessed Claudette. Still, Claudette admitted that there was little they could do as a family to support or alleviate Celine's pain, as they didn't know enough about SPS.

Despite her health challenges, the singer recently surprised people when she attended the 66th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California. Over a month before this appearance, tragedy hit her family when she lost her niece, Brigitte Dion, 51.

Brigitte, the daughter of Celine's brother, Clément Dion, died in a head-on collision road accident on December 29, 2023, a few minutes from her home in Saint-Thomas, near Joliette. The "I'm Alive" singer didn't publicly comment on her niece's death.

Furthermore, Claudette gave another health update on Celine in December 2023, acknowledging that it was sad many people had lost hope about her sister getting well as SPS is an illness that isn't well understood.

Claudette Dion also revealed that Celine's fans hadn't lost hope as they called the Maman Dion Foundation to hear from Celine, tell her they love her, and pray for her. The singer's sister added that Celine was working hard to improve but had lost her vocal cords.

Celine losing her vocal cord hurt Claudette so much as her sister had always worked hard, just as their mother, Thérèse Dion, had advised her.

Claudette lamented," Of course, in our dreams and in hers, the idea is to return to the stage. In what state? I don't know. Vocal cords are muscles, and so is the heart. That's what gets me. As this is one case in millions, scientists didn't do that much research because it didn't affect that many people."

She stood out in the outfit accessorized with Tiffany jewelry, a gorgeous silver statement necklace, and silver and diamond earrings and rings.

In a video shared online, Taylor Swift is seen greeting people on stage, but when she reaches Celine, she doesn't greet her; she only takes her award. Celine's fans weren't impressed by Taylor's behavior, and they accused her of intentionally ignoring the superstar and not even making eye contact with her on stage.

"Just disgraceful," an individual added. As much as people said Taylor didn't hug or acknowledge Celine, a picture shows the two looking happy together.
