A TikTok user who goes by Karmell G on social media shared a date story with a plot twist. While she was encouraged to find love on an online platform, she never thought she would have to butt heads with her co-worker.

In October 2023, Karmell told her story in a four-part series on TikTok. She revealed that years prior, she got on a dating app because three of her colleagues were on the same app and had found their amazing husbands there.

They advised her to try out the app, and she agreed. A few days later, she started texting one "amazing guy" who seemed genuine. She then gave him her phone number.

Another couple of days later, Karmell and the man decided to meet in person, and they went to a local bar in an area where she felt safe. Once they arrived at the establishment, they sat in the bar area.

The bartender asked what the pair would like, and Karmell's date said they would have ten tequila shots. However, she quickly told the bartender she would have a soda water with lime instead.

Still, the date persisted and said she would have five tequila shots. The bartender defended Karmell, agreeing that she would not be having shots of tequila. In that instant, the date started vocalizing his thoughts.

He loudly said he would get some with her that night and repeated himself. During that moment, Karmell decided to leave, and as she grabbed her Louis Vuitton speed bag, he also grabbed it while trying to stop her from leaving the premises. In the process, he ripped off the handle.

Karmell slapped her date across the face and left. The following day, she told the co-worker who suggested she use the dating app that it did not work out for her and would not be using it again.

However, the colleague tried to persuade her to continue using it. Karmell recalled her saying, "Oh no, try again. My man is amazing. He just took me on this amazing date."

The co-worker showed Karmell a picture of the said man, and that was when she realized it was the same guy who went out on a date with her the previous evening. It turns out it was the colleague's husband.

Karmell made a follow-up video where she continued the story and expressed shock at the revelation. She decided to tell her co-worker, but she needed proof first. Karmell took screenshots of her conversations with the man, who told her where he lived, where he was from, and where he worked.

According to Karmell, the man told her he worked as a truck driver, was contracted for the government, and transported museum exhibits. To confirm her suspicions, Karmell asked her colleague where she lives and what her husband does for a living.

The woman told her precisely what the man told her regarding his residence and job. Karmell recounted how she broke the news to her co-worker, saying:

"Friend, I don't know how to tell you this. And this is going to sound crazy, but that man from last night, that man from that horrible date, I'm pretty sure that was your husband."

Karmell told the woman that the pictures she showed her were of the same man. At first, the co-worker thought she was joking until she assured her she was telling the truth.

Karmell showed the colleague the man's profile, which had a fake name. This convinced the woman that it was probably a doppelganger or her husband's twin. Karmell then showed her his phone number, and she confirmed that it was not her spouse's number.

As a last resort, Karmell showed her their conversation and told her it could not be a coincidence that her husband and the man she went out with lived in the same area and worked the same jobs. She asked the woman where her spouse had been the previous night, and he told her he would be working.

She called him from work and asked him, and he was still stuck on his story. He even claimed he could prove his whereabouts using GPS logs that he was not at the bar.

Karmell decided to let it go until another co-worker told her their colleague believed she was making everything up. Karmell tried to access the man's app profile, but it was gone.

She gathered everyone at work and decided to call the number the man gave her, and he answered. This confirmed that it was him, and the next day, her colleague said she and her spouse discussed the situation.

"He just said he felt bad for you, and it was strictly platonic. He said that you said you had a recently failed engagement, and he was just trying to be a friend and look out for you," Karmell recalled her colleague saying.

The woman then said that she did not get married to get divorced and that she and her husband would work it out. In addition, she told Karmell that she should stop contacting her spouse.

Before everything that occurred, Karmell had already requested a transfer at work, and when everything unfolded, she had two weeks before she left. The couple continued with their marriage until the woman found out that her spouse had impregnated someone else, and they divorced.

Karmell said her main problem was that she could not prove that the man was at the bar with her, adding that if they had taken a selfie together, it would have made a difference in her story.

Meanwhile, the wife was hung up on the fact that the man had a different name and number on his profile instead of focusing on the picture showing that it was indeed her husband.

Karmell's followers were stunned by the story and flooded the comments section, expressing their disbelief at how things had transpired since the encounter.

"I was not expecting that plot twist," commented one person. "The way my jaw dropped," another expressed. Someone else penned, "I swear to you, I wouldn't have continued talking after she mentioned doppelganger. Why were you trying to convince her so hard?" Meanwhile, another TikTok user complimented Karmell's storytelling and writing, "You’re an amazing storyteller, and this is crazy."
