Gray-Haired Tom Selleck, 79, Called 'Sexiest Man Ever' as He Poses at His Ranch in Rare New Photoshoot
In a new interview and photoshoot, “Blue Bloods” star Tom Selleck’s insights about his life over the last four decades show why he is seen as the definition of a real man, and sexy to boot.
Reflecting on his life in an interview ahead of the release of his new memoir, “You Never Know” due out on May 4, 2024, Tom Selleck described his acting career as “accidental.” Even so, the chord he strikes with fans is anything but accidental.
Reacting to the new interview, fans showed the beloved actor admiration for both his distinct appearance and dedication to his family.
“This man is fine. Dangggggg,” opined a Facebook user. “Magnum P.I. 🔥🔥 Most handsome ever 🔥🔥,” a fan gushed on Instagram, seconded by another, who wrote, “Sexiest man ever.”

While some netizens had more general comments, like, “He's the best, absolutely love him ❤️,” others had nothing but praise for Selleck’s dedication in his personal life.

“He needs a statue. People can be reminded forever what a real man looks like,” a fan enthused. “The definition of a Man all the way around. Handsome and devoted to his wife and daughter,” another added. Selleck’s hair also made a notable appearance in a comment section, as an X user wrote, “Love Tom. I wish he would grow his gorgeous hair out again after finishing 'Blue Bloods.'”
With “Blue Bloods” in its final season, and Selleck’s memoir, “You Never Know” soon due for release, the actor sat down for an interview at the 63-acre ranch he bought in Ventura County, California, in 1988 to discuss his “lucky life.”

He first appeared on television in 1967 with a stint in “The Young and the Restless,” and featured in several Western movies and small parts in other television series before he became a household name.

Selleck was 35 when he found major success in the '80s as the Hawaiian private investigator, Thomas Magnum, in “Magnum, P.I.” The role won him an Emmy, and even though it was only the beginning of a dazzling career in the industry, fame was never his driving force, nor does he relish this heartthrob status.

“People would say, ‘Oh, he was bitten by the acting bug’ or, ‘He wanted to be a star.’ I’ve never talked that way in my life. I just wanted to get a job and work,” Selleck says in the interview.
When it comes to priorities, Selleck’s family is on top of the list. He met and married his wife, Jillie, now 66, while he starred in “Magnum P.I.,” and they share a daughter, Hannah, while Selleck also has a son, Kevin, from a previous marriage.

After four decades of marriage, Selleck says he loves “the friendship” he shares with Jillie and her “sense of humor.” Valuable attributes in a partner, especially during tough times he elaborates on in his forthcoming memoir, which “is a lot about failing.”
“If you’re going to get into the acting business, you better have an appetite for it. And I tried to communicate that... Because it was kind of a long road,” Selleck says.
Nowadays, Selleck spends his free time reviewing scripts for “Blue Bloods” with Jillie when he is not filming. He is also seen out and about from time to time, including recently, when we reported that fans thought he looked like an “entirely different person” while spotted grabbing McDonald’s.

Veteran actor Tom Selleck's rare outing stirred a conversation among online users about his appearance and health. While some fans could not recognize him, others expressed concern about his weight gain.

The television star stepped out to buy at McDonald's in September 2023 in Los Angeles. He was photographed without his trademark look, his handlebar mustache, which he ditched for a scruffy, full-grown gray beard.
Selleck wore a black T-shirt with shorts for the outing, amid a prolonged break from filming the hit police drama series, "Blue Bloods," due to a writers' strike.
The 78-year-old Michigan native was spotted making a pitstop at a McDonald's drive-thru in his pickup truck near his San Fernando Valley home. Fans had much to say about his appearance; some could not believe it was him because of his new look.
"I would never have recognized him," one fan candidly admitted, while someone else came to Selleck's defense, writing, "Well, we all don't stay young forever."
One fan refused to believe that it was, in fact, him in the pictures, penning, "That is not Tom Selleck." Someone else commented, "Gosh, he hasn't aged well. Looks unrecognizable." "He looks completely different! Still handsome, but like an entirely different person," noted another.
One individual suggested that Selleck looks unidentifiable due to too much alcohol and "high calorie foods." "You sure that's actually him?" a person asked.
Meanwhile, other fans seemed more concerned about the "Quigley Down Under" star's health, as one person commented that although he still looks appealing, "losing some pounds would be beneficial for his health."
Echoing the same sentiments, someone wrote that while the "Friends" alum "is still VERY handsome" for his age, "he needs to lose at least 60 – 80 pounds, it isn't healthy."
"Oh, Tom, please ditch fast food. It'll kill you. Literally. Eat healthy food at home. Please!" said another fan. One other fan agreed and said Selleck would be "much better looking if he knocked off 40 lbs."
"Looks out of shape," someone else pointed out. "Looks like he needs to cut back on the McDonald’s," said one person. While another stated, "Looking a little portly."
Although some talked negatively about Selleck's physical appearance, others have spoken highly of him. One fan said, "He has aged well." Another advised the beloved Hollywood star to "enjoy" his life. "Still looks good to me. Glad he has let himself age naturally," wrote one person. Someone else penned, "Tom Selleck is our American Treasure."
