Elton John, 77, Left with Limited Vision: What Happened?
Elton John is recovering slowly after a health issue affected his vision.
On September 4, 2024, Elton John revealed that he is now dealing with limited vision in one eye following a recent health scare. Fans were quick to respond, sending their love and prayers for a swift recovery.

The "Rocket Man" crooner wrote, "Over the summer, I've been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye."

John added that while he is healing, the process is extremely slow, and it will take some time before his sight returns to the affected eye.
He thanked all those who have supported him, "I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks."
The singer has been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home and feels positive about his progress in healing and recovery so far. Fans hope Elton John recovers soon and shared their well-wishes.
One fan said, "Prayers for healing, Sir Elton. ❤️🩹❤️🩹." Another fan echoed similar sentiments, "Praying for healing for your eye🙏." Someone else expressed their support with, "Love❤️and prayers🙏❤️🩹🙌❤️."
Despite this health scare, John remains optimistic and grateful for the support he's received, reminding everyone why he's still a beloved star both on and off the stage.
While on stage, John never performs without his sunglasses. "I tried it in the early Eighties but I felt exposed. Glasses give me confidence. I’m not me without them," he disclosed.

John shared that, having worn countless pairs of glasses, he has a deep understanding of what makes a quality frame. If you stroll down Greek Street, you'll find his name on his first standalone boutique.

Inside, one wall is adorned with 158 pairs of optical frames and sunglasses, all designed by him, some inspired by those he has worn on stage over the years. He proudly mentioned that he wears them all the time.

Aside from his eyes, John has had health challenges with his hip. In 2021, he rescheduled his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in Europe and the UK to 2023.
He explained his reasons, "At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since."

The singer disclosed that despite undergoing extensive physiotherapy and specialized treatment, his pain progressively worsened. This had made movement increasingly difficult. Doctors recommended surgery to ensure his full recovery and to prevent any potential long-term issues.

"I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain.," shared John.

In 2023, the 77-year-old had another health incident after taking a fall at his villa in Nice, France, and was briefly hospitalized. However, he was later discharged.

His representative confirmed that after a precautionary visit to a local hospital for checkups, he was released the morning after he fell and was taken back home, in good health. In 2022, fans expressed concern over John's health after tabloids circulated images of him in a wheelchair.

He turned to Instagram to address the speculations, writing, "The true story is that I'm in top health, loving my shows and playing and singing at my very best. I give 100% every night and never want to disappoint, especially after everyone has waited so long to get back to seeing shows."
The talented singer expressed his gratitude, noting that the audience's response to every show he has hosted has been extraordinary, and he's cherishing every moment of it.
