Country Singer Darryl Worley Asks for Prayers After 16-Year-Old Daughter Is Hospitalized — Details

The country music icon is relying on faith and community support as his family faces a difficult time after a serious accident involving his teenage daughter.

Darryl Worley is appealing to fans and well-wishers for prayers following a tragic accident that left his 16-year-old daughter, Savannah, hospitalized. Darryl, known for his hit "Have You Forgotten?" shared the news in a Facebook post on Monday, November 18, 2024.

"I'm humbly coming to y'all with an a very serious request! I'm flying back to Nashville from a show in New Mexico! Kimberly called and said Savannah had been in a bad wreck and was being life flighted to Vanderbuilt Medical Center in Nashville [sic]!" penned the 60-year-old artist.

"She has a broken leg, bruises, and lacerations! Please pray for her and pray I can get home to be with my baby girl and Kimberly! Also pray for the lady in the other car! I don't have any details on the accident but just ask you to pray!! Thank you!" concluded Darryl, alongside a picture of himself with his daughter and photographs of two heavily damaged vehicles involved in the crash.

The images depicted the collision's severity, with both vehicles sustaining extensive damage. The cars' hoods and bumpers were completely crumpled, and parts of the wheels appeared to have detached due to the impact. Darryl was returning to Nashville from a performance in New Mexico when he received the distressing news from his wife, Kimberly Perkins.

A day later, on Tuesday, November 19, the "Awful Beautiful Life" singer provided an update, accompanied by a photo of Savannah in a hospital bed. The teenager, though visibly exhausted, had a faint smile. She appeared wrapped in blankets, connected to several medical devices. Darryl expressed gratitude for her progress and faith in her continued recovery.

"It may be raining today but my sunshine is awake with a little smile on her face!! It's been a rough few days but we know God is in control and shielded Savannah in all of this!! Not sure when she will get to go home but today looks a lot better than yesterday or the day before!!" he wrote, highlighting the resilience of his daughter and his hope for brighter days ahead.

In addition to Savannah, the other driver, a woman whose identity has not been publicly revealed, was airlifted to a medical facility following the accident.

The woman, who had been driving a red car depicted in the accident photos shared by Darryl, is in a serious but stable condition, according to her daughter, Allison Hammock. Alison told Daily Mail, "[My mother's] stable and alert. She has required some surgeries. She was airlifted as well."

The accident reportedly occurred while the woman was commuting to work, and her daughter described the situation as "an absolute nightmare" due to the widespread attention it has garnered. Despite the challenging circumstances, Allison maintained that the incident was purely accidental.

Allison revealed that she has been in contact with Savannah's family, adding an unexpected layer of connection between the two parties. "We are related down the line. I'm in touch with her mother," she said, highlighting the families' mutual support during this difficult time.

Darryl shares a deep bond with his teenage daughter, as reflected in a heartwarming post he penned in March to celebrate her 16th birthday. "Happy sweet 16 to our daughter Savannah Gail! She's our fishing, deer hunting, horse loving, cowgirl who can be as girly as they come with her love of all things fashion, makeup, and shoes (she gets that from her Mama @theworleygirl)! Your mother and I are so proud of you!" the doting father wrote.

"You are the biggest blessing in our life. While neither one of us can stand the thought of you growing up we also can't wait to see you spread your wings and fly! Happy Birthday baby girl! I'm so glad we have this family time in Puerto Rico for your special day! Your Mama and I love you so much!" he added.

The crash involving Savannah is the latest in a challenging year for the Worley family. Just a few months earlier, Darryl's wife, Kimberly, endured a serious ATV accident during the family's annual ride.

While Darryl was performing in Canada, Kimberly was injured when the vehicle she was riding with her brother Keith flipped, resulting in a severe arm fracture. "Please please please pray for [Kimberly] as we go to an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow and see what has to happen next!! Thank y'all! We love y'all!" wrote the "Family Tree" singer in his August 19 post.

Darryl shared the details of the ordeal through subsequent social media updates on August 20. "Kimberly is in pre op and it's almost time... She's a little nervous but I think we are going to be just fine. She wants as many believers praying for her as we can muster," he mentioned in a post, which showed a closeup shot of Kimberly's bandaged arm as she sat in what appeared to be the hospital's waiting area.

In another detailed post, the country singer recounted the complete incident. He recalled how upon learning of his wife's injury, he immediately sought medical advice from trusted friends and secured an appointment with a renowned orthopedic trauma surgeon at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Kimberly underwent successful surgery, and Darryl credited his faith and the support of skilled professionals for her swift care.

Reflecting on the help he received, Darryl said, "I am in awe and I sure don't mind telling you why… I just knew that my wife would have to go through another major event without me there to support her. I know that my God orchestrated this whole thing but I'm so blown away by the people he used to do all this."

The Tennessee native noted, "[God] can always do immeasurably more than we can… I have [no] doubt that [Kimberly] is going to come out of this better than before. I didn't make these arrangements but the one that did, is omniscient. I like when he makes my arrangements."
