Police sources said the model-turned-musician dialed 911 around 8:40 a.m. to report that a woman was attempting to harm herself. When officers arrived at the West 16th Street apartment, the 33-year-old woman accused him of assault.

Sources also stated that Reedus struck the woman to wake her, then choked her and forced her to the ground. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, while the police arrested and charged him with third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing.

The arrest has ignited strong reactions online, with many social media viewers criticizing his behavior and background. On Instagram, one commenter wrote, "Serial killer vibes for sure," while another dismissed him as one of the "Spoiled kids." A third said, "Oh no. This is not okay. Norman needs to teach his son how to behave with women."

Similar sentiments appeared on Facebook, where one netizen remarked, "He looks like the kind of guy who hits women." After the former model was arrested and taken to the 10th Precinct, a woman who identified herself as his girlfriend described the incident as a misunderstanding. It was not immediately clear if she was the same woman involved in the alleged assault.

Hours later, Reedus was escorted out of the precinct and placed into a police vehicle. He was then taken to the Manhattan Criminal Court, where prosecutors identified the victim as his girlfriend and reportedly filed additional counts.

The extra counts include reckless physical injury, aggravated harassment, and second-degree harassment. Prosecutors alleged the incident started the night before, when Reedus grabbed the woman by the neck, and continued the next morning when he kicked her and forced her to the floor.

In court, Reedus appeared uneasy and was represented by defense attorney Priya Chaudhry, who is recognized for handling high-profile cases such as actor Jonathan Majors' domestic abuse trial.

Chaudhry maintained that the girlfriend's injuries were not connected to the alleged assault and said her client contacted emergency services after the victim attempted suicide following the breakup of their five-month relationship.

She added that the girlfriend, who has since moved out, does not fear Reedus and has no plans to pursue charges. Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Shamahs released Reedus under the condition that he avoid contact with the woman.

As he left the courtroom, he directed an insult at a reporter, calling her "ugly." He is due back in court on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, this was not Reedus's first encounter with the justice system. In 2022, he accepted a plea deal after allegedly striking a 24-year-old woman during the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy. This incident left her hospitalized with a cut beneath her eye.

Then he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, and the court ordered him to undergo counseling and avoid legal trouble for a year.
