It was supposed to be a night of glamour, awards, and celebration—but Pamela Anderson turned the red carpet into a stage for defiance and raw honesty as she addressed explosive allegations that her budding romance with Liam Neeson is nothing more than a Hollywood publicity stunt.

The Baywatch beauty, 58, stunned in a strapless black gown as she collected the Deauville Talent Award at the 51st Deauville American Film Festival in France on Friday, September 5. But it wasn’t her fashion that stole the spotlight—it was her scorching words.

“I do not and will never feed into PR stunts. That would be a death sentence,” Anderson declared before a hushed audience.

‘I Am Superstitious When It Comes to Love’: Pamela Breaks Her Silence

Rumors have been swirling for weeks that Anderson and her The Naked Gun co-star Neeson, 73, faked their flirtation to drum up interest in the film, which hit theaters last month. TMZ even claimed Paramount orchestrated the romance, reporting the duo hadn’t seen each other between filming wrapping in June 2024 and the press tour in July.

But Anderson used her moment in the spotlight to fight back.

“I am authentically driven. I am superstitious when it comes to love. And I’m not comfortable sharing any shred of my romantic life,” she told the crowd. “For, as you can see, it is only built up and torn down in days in a media culture that is quick to judge — and ruin it.”

She added: “I know I will fall in love again and again on screen. That is my job. There are no silly games being played. I am sincere. Do not mistake my kindness for weakness, or my boldness for bitterness.”

She then ended on a powerful note:

“I am here on this journey, not for money or for fame, but to see what I’m made of, in truth, hard work, and to leave behind an honest legacy my family can be proud of.”

Behind the Allegations: Who Started the Firestorm?

The drama began when TMZ dropped a bombshell, citing “sources with direct knowledge” who insisted the couple’s PDA-filled outings were staged. The report claimed both actors’ PR teams—and even the studio—were complicit.

But insiders quickly came forward to defend the pair.

“Everything between them has been genuine. Neither would ever take part in a publicity stunt. They have a great time. Neither of them needs the publicity,” a source insisted to PEOPLE.

“Their relationship isn’t just for show. They have a real connection. There’s no incentive for either of them to stage something like this,” another added.

From On-Screen Sparks to Real-Life Romance?

The whispers began last October when Anderson and Neeson were spotted looking cozy. Now, nearly a year later, those sparks appear to have turned into something much deeper. A source told PEOPLE: “It’s sincere, and it’s clear they’re smitten with each other.”

During their whirlwind press tour, the chemistry has been undeniable. Appearing on TODAY, host Craig Melvin cheekily asked, “What’s the deal here?” Anderson dodged, “What? I don’t understand the question.”

But Neeson chimed in with a knowing grin, explaining they discovered a “lovely, budding chemistry” while filming. “It’s like, ‘Oh, this is nice. Let’s not mold this. Let’s just let it breathe.’ And that’s what we did.”

Melvin’s verdict? “We’re watching the beginning of the breathing of a budding relationship. America’s here for it.”

A Change of Heart for Neeson: From Heartbreak to Hope

Neeson, widowed since the devastating 2009 skiing accident that killed his wife Natasha Richardson, had long declared himself finished with romance.

In October 2024, he told a journalist bluntly, “No, in a word. I’m past all that.” But Anderson seems to have reignited his heart. A source says their relationship is “in the early stages” but “sincere.”

The contrast couldn’t be starker: a man who once shunned dating now telling PEOPLE of his co-star: “With Pamela, first off, I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with. I can’t compliment her enough, I’ll be honest with you.”

“No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with. She’s going to be terrific in the film.”

Fans React: ‘America’s Here for It’

If the internet is any measure, the public is firmly rooting for this unexpected duo.

“They are clearly smitten with each other. Two famous people from totally different backgrounds. Beautiful couple. Hope that love lasts. ❤️❤️❤️,” one fan gushed online.

Another cheered, “Yay! It is time for him to move on and for her to be with a real man. I wish them well! May they survive Hollywood!”

Of course, some fans couldn’t help but reference Neeson’s late wife. “They’re cute but I always loved Natasha Richardson,” one user admitted. But overall, the sentiment is clear: the public wants this love story to flourish.

The Final Act—or Just the Beginning?

Their film The Naked Gun may have been the spark, but now all eyes are on whether Anderson and Neeson’s connection will stand the test of Hollywood.

On the surface, it’s a story of two stars from wildly different worlds—the Playboy icon and the Irish action legend—finding common ground. But for many, it feels like something even more powerful: two wounded hearts daring to love again.
