Colin Farrell Makes a Rare Red Carpet Appearance with 15-Year-Old Son Henry at the 2025 Emmys
The 45-year-old actor is a father of two and makes it a priority to show up for each of his sons in ways that suit their individual needs, something he opened up about in a personal interview.
Colin Farrell made a rare appearance with his youngest son, Henry, at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 14. As the pair stepped onto the red carpet, they sparked plenty of chatter among fans about who the teenager most resembles between his Oscar-nominated father and his Polish actress mother, Alicja Bachleda-Curuś.

Father-Son Style Stuns on the Carpet
The Irish actor was the very picture of old-school Hollywood charm in a black-and-white Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo, but it was the 15-year-old at his side who nearly stole the spotlight.

Henry cut a striking figure of his own in a sleek all-black look, showing off his height and composure with ease as he confidently posed beside his father.

Fans React to Henry's Presence

Another fan gushed, "😍 proud Dad! Two handsome men." Not everyone agreed on the likeness, though. One fan argued, "There is no resemblance between them."

Curious about his looks, another person asked, "Who's his mom [sic] because he doesn't look much like his dad." Someone else thought they had the answer, adding, "Looks so much as [sic] his... Mother! 💪😍"

Fans were also stunned by his height, with one remarking, "He's just 15? but taller than his dad." Compliments kept pouring in, like this sweet note, "So handsome and dapper!❤️" And one fan summed up their admiration, writing, "I love this man and his love and compassion he has for his son."

A Growing Tradition of Public Appearances
This wasn't the first time father and son attended a Hollywood event together. Back in 2023, Farrell brought Henry to the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, where the duo wore matching black tuxedos and posed side by side on the champagne-colored carpet.

At the time, Henry's mom, Bachleda-Curuś, proudly shared snaps of her handsome son at the Oscars, looking polished with his hair neatly styled to the side. She gushed in the caption, "What a special night! So proud of the young man he's become (way too fast!)#proudmom #prouddad #oscars ✨💗."
Rare Glimpses into Family Life
Bachleda-Curuś has occasionally lifted the curtain on her life with her son. Back in 2019, she posted a sweet snap of Henry carrying an Easter basket in church as they marked the holiday. She wrote, "Happy Hallelujah! Happy Easter World W 🌼 🐰 ☀️ 🥚 Let's be kind to each other! 🙏🏻 Sunny and joyful moments, greetings🐥🐥#easter #wielkanoc #hallelujah."
Farrell, too, has shown his more playful side when it comes to parenting. In a candid 2022 appearance on "The Ellen Show," the actor revealed that Henry has strong opinions about his father's running gear. Laughing, Farrell confessed that his teenage son isn't exactly thrilled when he steps out in very short shorts.
While some might see the skimpy attire as a bold fashion choice, Farrell shrugged off the criticism, explaining that he wears them for one reason only — because they feel good.
Championing His Eldest Son James
Aside from Henry, Farrell is also a father to his eldest son James, who lives with Angelman syndrome, a rare neurogenetic disorder that leaves him nonverbal and facing lifelong challenges.
During an interview at his home last year, Farrell kept tabs on James as he played catch in the backyard with his live-in caregiver. At one point, James made eye contact with a nearby journalist and immediately tossed the miniature basketball her way, inviting her into the game.
James' eyes lit up when he spotted his father, though it was the visible swell of pride in Farrell's chest that stood out even more as others responded warmly to his son. "I want the world to be kind to James. I want the world to treat him with kindness and respect," he shared.
Colin Farrell has never shied away from speaking openly about the struggles families encounter once children with special needs become adults.

With disarming honesty, he explained, "Once your child turns 21, they're kind of on their own. All the safeguards that are put in place, special ed classes, that all goes [sic] away, so you're left with a young adult who should be an integrated part of our modern society, and more often than not is left behind."

The star's heartfelt words underscore the harsh reality for countless families navigating the transition from adolescence to adulthood in the special needs community.
Determined to confront the issue head-on, Farrell launched the Colin Farrell Foundation in 2024. The initiative focuses on advocacy, education, and programs to support adults with intellectual disabilities.
He first shared news of the initiative during his interview with People, and for Farrell, the project is deeply personal.
“This is the first time I’ve spoken about it, and obviously the only reason I’m speaking is I can’t ask James if he wants to do this,” Farrell said.
By stepping forward, Farrell is using his platform not only to celebrate his son but also to demand the inclusivity and care that adults with intellectual disabilities so often lack. In doing so, he shows the world that beyond the Hollywood spotlight, his greatest role remains that of a fiercely devoted father.
