Famous Fighter Says He Has Seen His Own Death and Met Jesus
After vanishing from the spotlight, the former UFC champion reemerged online this weekend with a jaw-dropping revelation — he'd undergone powerful treatments to "address trauma" and had come face-to-face with his own mortality.
He was the brash Irish brawler who conquered the UFC, the tabloid wild child with a reputation for chaos. But now, Conor McGregor says he's returned from something far more harrowing than any cage match — a vision of his own death, witnessed during a mind-bending psychedelic trip in Mexico.
In a jaw-dropping announcement posted on X over the weekend, the former UFC champion revealed he had undergone a radical series of trauma treatments, emerging from the shadows with a spiritual awakening that sounds almost biblical.

'I Was Saved!'
"Hey guys, I am back," McGregor began in the Sunday, 23 November post. "I was blessed to meet the most forward thinking doctors from Stanford University and undergo a series of treatments to address trauma."
The treatments took place at AMBIO, a controversial psychedelic retreat in Tijuana that rose to notoriety after being featured in the 2024 Netflix documentary "In Waves and War."
McGregor says he was administered Ibogaine, a powerful plant-based psychedelic used in non-traditional settings to confront trauma and addiction. While not approved for medical use in the U.S., it's been embraced by some clinics abroad for its intense hallucinogenic properties.
And McGregor's experience? Nothing short of otherworldly.
"It was incredible, intense, and absolutely eye opening," he wrote. "I was shown what would have been my death. How soon it was to be, and how it would have impacted my children."
Then came the chilling moment. "I was looking down on myself as it happened, and then I was looking out from the coffin," he shared.
According to McGregor, he was then greeted by God himself — appearing as the Holy Trinity. "Jesus, his child. Mary, his Mother. The Archangels. All present in heaven," he said.
"Jesus descended from the white marble steps of heaven and anointed me with a crown. I was saved!" he declared. The trip, he said, lasted a staggering 36 hours before he "finally rested."

'When I Awoke, I Was Me Again'
Though the post made no reference to addiction, McGregor described the ordeal as "the most enlightening and enchanting experience I've ever undertaken."
"When I awoke, I was me again," he added, later thanking supporters who stood by him through his hiatus.
Ibogaine is derived from the Tabernanthe iboga plant, native to Central Africa. Though its reputation is rooted in addiction treatment, McGregor's journey appears focused on trauma, mortality, and a startling vision of salvation.
Old Injuries, New Questions
The shocking confession comes four years after it was revealed that McGregor suffers from chronic arthritis in both ankles, a condition that worsened following his devastating 2021 trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.
But injuries weren't the only battles haunting McGregor.
The brutal match ended in disaster — McGregor was stretchered out of the cage after snapping his leg just above the ankle. He would later undergo a three-hour surgery to repair fractures in both his fibula and tibia.

"Ask Dana White. Ask the UFC. Ask Dr. Davidson — the head doctor of the UFC," McGregor said at the time. "I had a stress fracture in my leg going into that cage." Yet the Nevada State Athletic Commission denied knowledge of any pre-existing injury.
"If we ever knowingly had information a fighter wasn't fit to fight, we wouldn't let them compete," said executive director Bob Bennett.

Accusations of Sexual Assault
But injuries weren't the only battles haunting McGregor.
In early 2021, a woman named Nikita Hand filed a lawsuit against the MMA star, alleging he had sexually assaulted her in a Dublin hotel penthouse in 2018.
According to the complaint, Hand claimed the two had exchanged flirtatious Instagram messages and that she believed she was going to a party. But once inside the suite, she says McGregor became violent.

She alleged that he restrained her, lifted her off the ground multiple times, and then sexually assaulted her — all while referencing his UFC experience.
"That's how I felt in the Octagon, I had to tap myself out three times, that's how I felt," McGregor allegedly told her. He denied all allegations.

A Fiancée Who Stands by Him — Despite the Scandals
All of this unfolded less than a year after McGregor proposed to his long-time partner, Dee Devlin, following over a decade together. The couple, who met in 2008, share four children: Conor Jr., Croia, Rian, and baby Mack, born in November 2023.
"I knew her a bit beforehand, but I think the first time I spoke to her properly was when I saw her in a nightclu," McGregor told VIP Magazine back in 2015 of their first encounter. "[...] She seemed like a nice girl, and I like good girls."

The fighter had teased a grand wedding in Ireland during a 2021 Extra TV interview, promising "the best of the best of the best, and then more to the best."
But as of now, no wedding has taken place — and that dream may be on rocky ground.

Caught Kissing Another Woman
In July, McGregor was caught on camera kissing a mystery woman on a Florida beach. The pictures went viral, igniting a firestorm of speculation about the state of his relationship with Devlin.
Neither party has publicly addressed the scandal.
His Shot at the Presidency — and Sudden Withdrawal
This year, McGregor attempted to run for president of Ireland, citing concerns over what he believes to be the erasure of Irish culture due to mass migration.
But in September, just hours before he was due to address two city councils to secure a nomination, he abruptly withdrew from the race. Still, he insists it won't be his last time on the political stage.
"You will see me canvassing again in the future, fighting for your rights and representing the best interests of our nation," he vowed.
