Eddie Murphy’s Son Is Expecting His First Child With the Daughter of Another Famous Comedian
A single black-and-white image sent the internet into a frenzy, teasing news that not only captured hearts but also strengthened one of Hollywood's most unexpected family ties.
The surprise announcement came on Monday, February 2, 2026, when the children of two of the biggest names in comedy crossed into a brand-new chapter.
And what makes it even more remarkable is that this moment connects directly back to something Eddie Murphy once said regarding his future expectations.

A Quiet Reveal That Left Fans Staring
There were no dramatic captions or elaborate photo spreads. Just one elegant image that said everything.
In the black-and-white Instagram post, a woman stood in a soft, off-the-shoulder white dress with her silhouette framed perfectly as her husband rested his head against her bulging stomach. The image was warm, intimate, and unmistakable in its meaning.
The caption was just as tender. "Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift ❤️❤️❤️," she wrote, prompting an immediate storm of comments from stunned and emotional followers.
But this was no ordinary baby announcement. The couple in the photo are Eric Murphy, 36, and Jasmin Lawrence, 30, the son of the legendary actor who voiced Donkey on "Shrek" and the daughter of Martin Lawrence.
These two comedy titans are now linked forever by marriage and parenthood.
And while their last names alone would have made headlines, the story of the romance between Eric and Jasmin had been unfolding quietly long before baby news took center stage.
From Private Love to Public Milestones
The couple first revealed their relationship around June 2021, when Eric posted photos of the two together and declared that he was "head over heels in LOVE with" Jasmin.
Just a month later, she celebrated his birthday with a touching message on Instagram, expressing how happy she was to love him and walk through life by his side.
From that point on, the couple kept things intentionally quiet. They only shared glimpses of their relationship during big moments, choosing intimacy over constant exposure.
Then, on November 27, 2024, Eric proposed after more than three years of dating. The engagement was revealed in a romantic video set to "Spend My Life With You" by Eric Benét. The clip showed Jasmin walking into a candlelit room covered in rose petals before Eric dropped to one knee.
"It's beautiful! Oh my gosh," she could be heard saying, before enthusiastically saying yes and sealing the moment with a kiss.
A Wedding Few Knew About
Just months after the engagement, the couple took everyone by surprise once again, but this time with something even more life-changing.
During an appearance on "The Jennifer Hudson Show" on May 29, 2025, Eddie Murphy casually revealed that Eric and Jasmin had already gotten married. Not only that, but they had done it in secret.

According to the comedian, the two had tied the knot about two weeks earlier.
"They went off, everybody was making the big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them," he shared, joking that Martin no longer had to shell out money for a lavish wedding.

But just because there wasn't a big celebration at the time didn't mean one was off the table.
"They went off and they got married at the church. They just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet little thing. So I think we'll have a big party or something," he added.
When Jennifer jokingly asked if he would sing at their wedding celebration, Eddie didn't hesitate. "No, I ain't singing," he replied, before teasing that Martin might take the mic instead... if so, the comedian might join him in a duet.
The Big Expectation
Long before there were wedding bells or baby bumps, Eddie had already hinted at what he thought this relationship could lead to.
Back in July 2024, during an interview with "CBS Mornings," he sat down with Gayle King and opened up about how he and Martin felt about their children's romance.
"They're both beautiful," Eddie said. "They look amazing together. And it's funny [because] everybody [asks], 'What is that baby going to be funny?'"
He laughed, then added, "Just our gene pool is going to make this funny baby. If they ever get married and have a child, I'm expecting the child to be funny." Now, years later, that offhand remark has taken on new meaning as Eric and Jasmin prepare to welcome their first baby together.
Congratulations to the lovely couple!
