Just when it seemed like the drama had quieted down, Cher's son found himself at the center of a shocking double arrest. And the details? They only get more bizarre from there…

Elijah Blue Allman, the 49-year-old son of Music Icon Cher and the late Gregg Allman, was first detained on February 27, 2026, after police were called to an elite prep school in Concord, New Hampshire. What he was doing there remains one big question mark.

A Quiet Friday Night Takes an Unexpected Turn

According to TMZ, police were called to St. Paul's School on Friday just before 7 PM after reports of an "unwanted guest" inside the dining hall. Reportedly, Elijah was "causing a disturbance and acting belligerently."

Officers from the Concord Police Department responded to the scene and took him into custody. He was later booked into the Merrimack County Jail.

Elijah was charged with two counts of simple assault. He was also charged with one count each of criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct.

Released… but Not for Long

Despite the seriousness of the charges, he was processed and released on personal recognizance, which means he did not have to post bail. He is expected to face arraignment at a later date.

One of the most puzzling aspects? Elijah reportedly has no clear association with the prestigious prep school, and sources said they didn't know why he was there at all. He is primarily based in Southern California.

TMZ reported that Cher's representative was contacted for comment, but there was no immediate response. At that point, it already seemed like a troubling situation.

Yet Another Call to Police

But just two days later, things escalated… On March 1, Elijah was arrested again…this time in Windham, New Hampshire. As stated by TMZ, he was taken into custody on Sunday for felony burglary after allegedly breaking into a home.

According to documents obtained by the outlet, a female resident hid in a closet while Elijah was inside the property. When police arrived, they reportedly found him sitting on the living room couch, smoking a cigarette. He was arrested without incident.

Although nothing appeared to be missing from the home, authorities allege he caused approximately $1,700 in damage to a door and an additional $1,000 in damage to a rug after dropping a lit cigarette on it.

This Isn't the First Scare

The second arrest came on the heels of his release from jail just days earlier, making it two detentions in one week. And for those familiar with the family's recent history, the developments feel especially heavy.

Elijah previously made headlines in June 2025 when he was rushed to the hospital from his home following an overdose. Authorities were reportedly called due to erratic behavior, and drugs were allegedly discovered inside the residence.

That frightening episode came roughly two months after his wife, Marieangela King, filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage.

Her divorce filing followed a bombshell accusation made the year prior, when she claimed Cher had orchestrated Elijah's alleged kidnapping from a New York City hotel room. The "Strong Enough" singer has denied those allegations.

Family tensions had already played out publicly in court.

Cher's Application for Conservatorship over Her Son

In December 2023, Cher filed for a conservatorship over her son, seeking legal control over his personal and financial affairs. She cited his alleged substance abuse and mental health issues as the basis for her petition.

According to the BBC, Cher argued that Elijah was "substantially unable to manage his financial resources." At that time, he was set to receive assets before the end of 2023 from a trust established by his late father, Gregg, which entitled him to regular payments.

In court filings, Cher's lawyers stated she feared any distributed funds would be "immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah's life at risk." The filings also emphasized that Cher had "worked tirelessly to get Elijah into treatment and get him the help he needs."

A conservatorship is typically granted to individuals unable to make their own decisions — such as those with dementia or severe mental illness — and can be used to manage financial or medical affairs.

At the time, Cher filed two immediate temporary conservatorship requests. Both were denied. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Jessica Uzcategui ruled that Elijah had demonstrated he had "managed his finances" and "remained drug free."

The judge acknowledged that Cher's request appeared to come from a place of concern but said her legal team was arguing based on hypotheticals and "fears." At that time, Elijah had also claimed that he was sober and was receiving regular treatment.

A Private Settlement and Hopes for Healing

While the temporary requests were rejected, a longer-term conservatorship bid remained unresolved until 2024. After pausing their court battle in May to attempt a private resolution, the case was ultimately dismissed. Cher dropped her conservatorship bid after reaching a private settlement with her son.

Elijah's lawyers, Cage & Miles, said the outcome "allows the parties to focus on healing and rebuilding their family bond, a process that began during mediation and continues today."

Meanwhile, Cher's attorneys told the court that the family had reached a private settlement, though details were not publicly disclosed. The BBC reported it had contacted Cher's attorney for comment at the time.

Against that backdrop — a public legal battle centered on sobriety, financial control, and family concern — Elijah's back-to-back arrests in New Hampshire feel especially striking. Years after a judge ruled he had proven he could manage his affairs and remain drug-free, he is now facing fresh criminal charges in a state where he reportedly has no known ties.

As the legal process moves forward, the question hanging in the air is impossible to ignore: Is this another temporary setback or a sign that the family's hard-fought peace is once again under strain?
