During a press briefing, San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said the suspects, ages 17 and 18, appeared to have died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

"There were no officers involved in firing their weapons. But that is still very preliminary at this point. But that’s what we believe," Wahl said.

As investigators continued examining the scene, more troubling details emerged.

According to CNN, one of the suspects allegedly took a firearm from a parent's home before the attack. Law enforcement officials also said a reported suicide note included writings about racial pride.

Investigators further revealed that hate speech was allegedly scrawled on one of the recovered weapons, though authorities have not publicly disclosed the exact language.

Police have not announced an official motive, but the reported writings and messages found during the investigation are raising concerns about possible extremist influences.
