The Commonwealth Day service was attended on March 12, 2018, according to People. There, Markle joined others in singing the national anthem before receiving a bouquet of flowers outside from a little girl.

On Monday, Markle joined her fiancé Prince Harry and other senior members of the Royal Family for a church service celebrating Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey. Also in attendance besides the Queen were Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince William and Kate.

The Queen, 91, is head of the Commonwealth, a global network of 53 countries with more than two billion people. The service is the largest annual interfaith gathering in the UK.

This year the service included a performance by Liam Payne as well as a reflection by Dr. Andrew Bastawrous. Bastawrous is an eye surgeon who turned a smartphone into an examination tool which works to combat avoidable blindness in developing countries.

Markle and Kate both shared sweet moments with two young girls who handed them bouquets of flowers. The actress’s attendance at the service shows the speed with which she has taken on official royal duties.

In the weeks before she married William in 2011, Kate didn’t attend anything public with the Queen.
