Famous NHL hockey player announces the tragic loss of his baby son a month before his due date
Erik Karlsson announced last year in November that he and his wife were expecting a child. But recently he made the sad confession that they’d lost their baby.
According to his Instagram post, Karlsson revealed that they’d lost their baby boy on March 19, 2018. Pop Sugar shared the star’s feelings about the sudden loss.
Karlsson and his wife, Melinda Currey revealed that they had lost their son a month before his April due date. In a post to Instagram, Karlsson shared a message with his fans to thank everyone for the love and support.
He also revealed that they had named their son Axel Michael. ‘At this extremely difficult time it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel,’ he wrote.
Karlsson and his wife first announced that they were expecting last year with a photo of the pair focused on a sonogram photo of the baby. The hockey player’s hat read ‘Dad’ hinting that he was going to be a father.
Karlsson captioned the image saying that it was the most exciting news that they had ever received earlier that year. He also added that they couldn’t wait to meet their child.
‘We feel very lucky to be Axel's parents. Even though he was stillborn, we know we will hold him again one day under different circumstances and the joy he gave us will be with us forever.’
