There are many different syrups on the market that claim to treat this problem, but there may be a natural solution as well.

A cough can be quite an annoying issue to deal with. Depending on the severity, it can be exhausting to the point of keeping one up at night and unable to sleep.

Most often, the solution is considered to be a trip to the pharmacy or the doctors, depending on the accompanying symptoms.

If a cough is present, it is likely because there is something that is blocking the throat or air passages, such as mucus, foreign particles, microbes, irritants, and fluids, and is most often the result of viruses.

A short-term cough is probably linked to other symptoms such as that of a common cold, the flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, or laryngitis.

A long-term cough is more serious, and could be a result of smoking, asthma, a post-nasal drip, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and even the use of certain medications.

But a visit to the pharmacy might not be the best option. Most cough mixtures fail to treat the underlying causes of the cough, can cause some severe side-effects, and some even need far too much time to be effective.

Instead, there is perhaps a natural way to treat these symptoms with bananas!

All the is needed for this recipe is 2 ripe, organic bananas, 2 tablespoons of raw organic honey, and 400ml of water.

While the water is boiling, mash the two bananas up with a wooden spoon. Pour the boiling water over the bananas, and wait for the mixture to cool. Once it has, stir in the honey.

It is important to wait for the mixture to cool before adding the honey, as the heat of the boiling water will kill the good properties of the honey.

Slightly warm the mixture before consuming it, which should be done 4 times a day. Not only will it soothe the coughing, but it will also boost the body's serotonin levels, and help to ease sleep.
