Seth Meyers' wife gives birth to a baby in their apartment lobby
Bringing a child into the world is one of the most magical moments in a woman's life, but it can also be a very stressing one, even for those around her.
Seth Meyers, the famous talk show host, knows exactly what it feels like because, recently, he found himself in a similar situation. On Monday, April 9, 2018, during the Late Night Show, he announced the birth of his son, Axel.
It was quite a different birth than he expected. He told the audience that it happened on Sunday and that his wife, Alexi Ashe, didn't even make it to the hospital, as reported by E! News.
Meyers revealed that the birth took place in the lobby of their apartment building, and only because his wife was in so much pain that she couldn't move any further.
It all started as a normal Sunday. The family had brunch, took a walk through the park and went back home. While the Meyers was feeding his oldest son, 2-year-old, Ashe Olsen Meyers, his mother-in-law told him that Alexi's waters had broken.
According to the source, Alexi's sister stayed with her nephew while the rest of the family headed towards the hospital, Meyers called an Uber in the elevator, but, as soon as they got out, Alexi told them that the baby was coming.
They carefully laid her down and started delivering the child. The 45-year-old host barely had time to call 911 for help because Axel was born in a matter of minutes.
As reported by E! News, New York's Fire and Police Department's arrived shortly after to cut the umbilical cord and to take both mother and son to the nearest hospital.
In the end, Meyers thanked all those involved, including the neighbors who helped by bringing warm towels, but he jokingly criticized the Uber driver who still charged him.
