CBS makes a huge announcement about 'NCIS' future and it will definitely thrill the fans

Not only will the fans get to see the next season, but an important star has also renewed his contract.

As reported in an article published by Variety, CBS has ordered the sixteenth installment of NCIS that is scheduled to air in 2018-2019. The network announced the extension of the show with its new season on Friday.

Moreover, the star of the series and executive producer, Mark Harmon, has signed a new deal to reprise his role on the hit show.

President of CBS Entertainment, Kelly Kahl, said that the decision to renew NCIS's contract was a no-brainer. She said that people across the globe love the show as the crime drama hit show speaks to viewers of all ages.

Kahl added that the writers of the show have developed great characters and the storytelling through the show has resulted in a huge fanbase of passionate viewers. 

The president of CBS Entertainment also lauded the production team and the talented cast led by the iconic Mark Harmon. She expressed great excitement on seeing Harmon return as the centerpiece of the show with the 16th season.

NCIS is among the list of the numerous shows that have been renewed by CBS, including, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Mom, and SWAT. 

NCIS revolved around a group of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service department. The team investigates crimes involving the Navy and the Marine Corps.

The show has been ranked No.1 in drama since 2009 and has garnered an average viewership of 17 million per episode. It is also one of the most watched dramas in the history of broadcast television.

The show has been licensed in more than 200 areas and holds the record of the most-watched drama series in the world. It had received an International Audience Award by Eurodata TV Worldwide.
