Being single has made the four-time married Melanie introspective. In 2016, she told People:

“I’m having a very introspective time right now. It’s an interesting time. It’s just sort of nice. My kids are all great. They’re beautiful people. I’m single, and lonely, and bored, and confused—but then at the same time, totally curious. It’s almost like I have to throw myself out of the nest.”

Melanie, who is also a former Broadway thespian, recently returned to the stage as the seductive Mrs. Robinson for a Laguna Playhouse production of The Graduate, which ran from February 21 - March 18 in Laguna Beach.
