Carrie Underwood opens up on why she never leaves home without makeup
The 35-year-old country singer and songwriter, Carrie Underwood, suffered a nasty fall at her Nashville home and needed 40 to 50 stitches to her face.
The incident occurred on November 10, 2017, and Underwood was hospitalized for a broken wrist and injuries to her face. She later revealed that the accident left her scarred and she was self-conscious about it.
The award-winning singer remained out of the limelight while she recovered and only appeared in public again for the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 15, 2018.
As reported by Closer Weekly, Underwood now views makeup as a means to boost her confidence whenever she has to appear in public.
"Makeup is a confidence builder for me. When I want to look hot, I like smoky eyes and eyeliner. I just feel like it’s nice to have things that enhance the things you like and cover up the things you don’t."

Despite the extended recovery period, she is still insecure about her appearance and refrained from posting any close-up images on social media.
In several of her photos, she either turned one side of her face away from the camera or asked the photographer to shoot it from a distance.
She joked that there weren't many 'makeup free days' before the incident and admitted that taking care of her appearance had always been a priority.
Thanks to the pressures of stardom, Underwood always wanted to look her best at all times because she never knew when her picture would be taken.
2018 has been a busy year for the singer thus far, and she already appeared in one episode of the television series, The Flash, as well as two episodes of the series King of the Golden Sun.
Fans of underwood can look forward to the release of her sixth album. Cry Pretty, will be available from September 2018. She performed the title track at the ACM Awards.
