Dog gave birth but her family was stunned with her little newborn 'cows'
Rosie, a golden retriever that lives with her family in Raleigh, North Carolina, gave birth to four puppies that were confused by cows.
The puppies’ owners, Katie and John Black, are volunteers in a community center that provides care to wounded dogs and arrange meetings with people who want to take them to loving homes, so they don’t have to live on the streets anymore.
They adopted Rosie that way a couple of years ago and they made her a member of their family in no time. In 2017, the Blacks learned that Rosie was pregnant but didn’t know who the father of the upcoming dogs was.
Rosie went into labor in November and, as expected, her family was surrounding her to provide all the support she needed during that time. When the first puppy was delivered, the couple noticed that there was something weird.
Katie and John, who had helped many other dogs during their deliveries and had seen several dog breed combinations, never expected to see the color of Rosie’s puppies: they looked just like cows.
The father of the four puppies – Daisy, Betsy, Clarabelle, and Moo – is very likely to be a Dalmatian as their fur has a black and white colored pattern. Even though they look completely different to their mother, she never hesitated to share her love with them.
As the pups grew bigger, they started looking a lot more like Rosie but their distinctive color never changed. The fur around the eyes of a couple of them turned brown, but they still look like small cows.
According to Rover, there is another dog breed that has a black and white colored fur. It is called Harlequin Great Dane and it is a mix of the physical features of common Great Danes with a patchwork pattern that makes them unique.
