Film star Katie Holmes was photographed in New York City with her mother
Katie Holmes attended an event in New York honoring Ava DuVernay and her series Queen Sugar on the 21st of May 2018, reported The Daily Mail.
The hit TV series was created, and directed by Ava DuVernay, with Oprah Winfrey as executive producer. The series focuses on a Southern family haunted by the stigma of racial discrimination and the legacy of poverty and drugs.
Holmes, 38, was accompanied by her mother, Kathleen Stothers-Holmes, and the two women stepped out in style at the Laduree Soho restaurant where the event took place.
Holmes wore a floral ruffled top with a discreet high neck and her short, shaggy hair was elegantly tousled. She teamed the top with high-waisted white slacks and dainty heels.

Holmes posted a photo of herself and her mom on Instagram, and praised DuVernay, citing her as an inspiration.
Holmes who will soon be on screen in the upcoming Ocean's 8, looked slim and ripped from working out for her new and very challenging role in The Doorman in which she will play a soldier.
Holmes shares an 11-year-old daughter, Suri, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, and has been involved in a long-term romance with Academy Award winner Jaime Foxx.
