Serena Williams wears sneakers to Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding reception

The 36-year-old tennis player Serena Williams made an interesting fashion choice when she attended Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding reception.

Williams wore a beautiful pale pink Versace dress for the ceremony at St. George's Chapel on Saturday morning and slipped into a Valentino gown for the private event at Frogmore.

She shared a secret with her 8.2 million Instagram followers: she wore sneakers under her evening gown for the private event! The pair was given to her at the last minute.

Some of her fans agreed, and an Instagram user known only as Sammycat1920 said she couldn't blame Williams because 'who wants to stand in 5-inch heels when not necessary?'

Kimi Xaisanasy-Baylon loved Williams' dress and said it was 'even better with sneakers,' while Meri Tomassetti approved of her choice of shoes.

Williams has been close friends with 36-year-old Duchess of Sussex for more than three years and said in a recent interview that she was 'super happy' for Meghan.

According to ET Online, they were first spotted together at the US Open in January 2015.

Williams walked down the aisle with Alexis Ohanian in 2016, and her advice to Meghan was to enjoy every moment of her special day, including the cake!

Meghan managed a successful lifestyle blog called The Tig in the days before she met Prince Harry. The website has since been deleted, but archives of it still exist on the internet.

According to Huffington Post, Meghan wrote a blog post about her friendship with Williams while the site was still active.

She described Williams as a 'confidante I would text when I was traveling,' and added that she was the 'down to earth' type of person she enjoys spending time with.

Williams released a documentary about her life earlier this year, titled Being Serena.
