'American Idol' judge gets candid about Meghan’s wedding dress, and it may upset her

Katy Perry didn’t hold back her true feelings about Meghan Markle‘s now-iconic royal wedding gown.

She captivated the world when she exchanged vows with Prince Harry in a stunning yet simple white wedding dress. But, as it turns out, not everybody was in love with Meghan Markle's Givenchy gown.

The singer was asked by Entertainment Tonight about Markle's dress, and Perry was blunt in her criticism. “I would have done one more fitting,” she said. “I’m never not going to tell the truth! One more fitting, but I love you.”

When asked if she thought Meghan looked better than Kate, who wore a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown for her wedding to Prince William, Perry replied: “Kate, Kate, Kate won, Kate won!”

Prince Harry, on the other hand, had a different reaction to the dress. The 33-year-old former military pilot was brought to tears as his beautiful bride made her way down the aisle inside St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle wearing Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy.

As the 36-year-old Duchess of Sussex approached the altar, Harry lifted her veil and couldn’t keep his eyes off of her.

Meanwhile, Perry's fellow American Idol judge Lionel Richie thinks Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, would have been "very proud" if she could see the 33-year-old prince and his brother William, 35, today.

The newlywed couple, who announced their engagement in November 2017, made their courtship official in front of 600 guests on Saturday morning, with more than 29 million viewers watching the live televised ceremony.

Meghan’s gown was designed by Clare Waight Keller, the sleek silhouette featured an open bateau neckline and slim three-quarter sleeves, additionally emphasizing the slender sculpted waist, and featured a trailing veil.

Her 16-foot Cathedral length veil was also a nod to British heritage and featured a trim of hand-embroidered flowers from each of the 53 counties in the Commonwealth.

Meghan paired the minimalistic design with the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara, which was made in 1932 and features a center detachable brooch made of ten diamonds dating back to 1893.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex continued their celebrations with a luncheon hosted by Queen Elizabeth where Elton John performed some of his biggest hits.

They were then joined by 200 of their closest friends and family at Frogmore House for an evening reception, which ended with a fireworks display.
