Suri Cruise has grown up so fast, as proved in new photos with Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes has made it a point to keep her daughter's public appearances within a limit. She was spotted in a rare outing in New York.

The mother-daughter duo, who are seldom seen in public, were seen wearing matching floral outfits for the outing. Katie shared a few photos of herself from the gala, posing with friends.

Known for shielding her daughter's private life from the eyes of the media, she did not share any pictures of Suri.

However, that did not stop followers of the award-winning actress from noticing the striking resemblance between Katie and Suri.

One fan, Gary Blue, commented that Suri was a spitting image of her mother while another follower, Andrew Spalding, said that the two looked like twin sisters in the photograph.

Despite being the child of prolific and globally famous actors, Suri has been leading a commoner's life since her early years, according to Closer Weekly.

Katie has been balancing the task of ensuring that her only child grows up without the constant pressure of being a star child on one hand, and advancing her own career as an actress and making her mark as a director on the other.

Daily Mail reported that the mother and daughter were also spotted in the subway in New York City, where they were waiting to take the train to Suri's school.

One of Katie's upcoming roles in Ocean's 8, which has an all-female lead cast, including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna and Mindy Kaling.

Another exciting project that Katie is prepping up for is one in which she dons the role of an ex-marine. In order to look the part, the actress has been undergoing rigorous physical training to get the buffed-up yet toned physique.

While she has been extremely dedicated towards her passion for acting and movie-making, the diva has always kept her priorities clear and has opened up about how she handles being a mother and a star.

Speaking to Women's Health, Katie shared that the balancing act is not as difficult as it appears, and being a mother, she has grown accustomed to managing multiple things simultaneously.
