Former President Barack Obama has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix

Collaborating with the online streaming service giants, the former First Couple now want to produce stories that can change the communities and the world.

According to Netflix's announcement on Twitter on May 21, former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have signed a multi-year agreement with them.

Their official Twitter account confirmed that the former First Couple will be involved in the production of anything from scripted and unscripted series to 'docu-series, documentaries as well as features.'

This confirms that the popular politician will now also be entering into the entertainment industry and involved in the production of various films and documentaries.

The exact nature of these films as well as documentaries have not been revealed by the streaming giants, however, their announcement is sure to get the fans excited about the prospective ventures that may come through this union.

A statement from Netflix informed that the Obamas have established a production company named Higher Ground Productions. Under this entity, they will be involved in the production of above-mentioned content for Netflix.

President Obama further said in the statement, “One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience.”

He explained that to reach this wider audience he and Michelle had decided to partner with Netflix.

Similarly, Michelle stated that Netflix was a perfect choice for them because their 'unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories' that they want to share with the world.

Ted Sarandos, the Chief Content Officer of Netflix, praised the Obamas as being among the world's most respected public figures, who have the unique capacity to bring forth the stories that can make a real difference in the community as well as the world.

Sarandos also stated that the company was proud that the former First Couple chose their platform as the 'home for their formidable storytelling abilities.'
