Just recently, Serena Williams conquered her first grand slam appearance ever since becoming a mother. Last Tuesday, she beat Kristyna Pliskova 7-6, 6-4 in the first round of the French Open. She is set to compete at Wimbledon in July.

It took Williams quite a while to get back on the Tennis court after she had an emergency caesarean section while giving birth to her first born. While giving birth, she experienced life-threatening complications that needed her to undergo surgery to prevent blood clots from hitting her lungs.

As if this was not traumatizing enough, she had to spend the first six weeks of motherhood in bed, and the entire process overwhelmed her.

While speaking to Vogue Magazine for her 2018 cover interview, she shared:

“Sometimes I get really down and feel like, man, I can’t do this. No one talks about the low moments – the pressure you feel, the incredible letdown every time you hear the baby cry. I’ve broken down I don’t know how many times. Or I’ll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, ‘why do I feel so sad when I have a beautiful baby?’ The emotions are insane.”

The reason Serena had to undergo an emergency caesarean section was because the baby's heart rate suddenly dropped dramatically during labor. Despite the trauma surrounding her daughter's birth, the little family has bounced back and are now enjoying their lives.

"Not sure what I did to deserve her @olympiaohanian"

Just recently, Serena shared the simple joys of childhood as she videoed her daughter Olympia playing with a plastic bag as if it were a toy.

Serena, who married Alexis Ohanian last year, has been sharing similar adorable moments of her child, just enjoying motherhood one step at a time.
