Man reduced to tears when surprised with a new puppy
After the devastation of losing his two dogs, the man couldn't even bear to hear their names, and would leave the room if his family started to talk about them.
James Xuereb, from Ontario, Canada, was heartbroken when two of his dogs, Nemo and Lucy, passed away from congestive heart failure and old age.
His daughter Jaleen Xuereb was concerned over her father's fragile mental state following their deaths, and wanted to find a way to comfort him during that difficult time, and to give him back some of the joy the dogs brought him.
In a wonderful Facebook video, Jaleen and her mother, Wanda, organized an amazing surprise for James for his birthday, and his emotional reaction to it was absolutely wonderful.
After some time, James started wondering whether their remaining dog, Mini, didn't perhaps need another canine friend to keep her company.
The moment he started asking the question, Jaleen and Wanda reached out to a breeder to look at a new litter of Bichon puppies.
“We went back in November to make our pick. When we walked through the door, one came up to us and kept pulling on my mom’s pants,” said Jaleen.
They knew immediately that that puppy was James', and they named him Lumo in a combination of Nemo and Lucy.
The pair started recording video as they handed James a card and instructed him to read it out loud for them
James was only able to read the first sentence: "Hi, my name is Lumo," before he broke down and was unable to read the remainder of the card out loud.
Jaleen took the card from him, and began to read.
“Hi, my name is Lumo. No, I am not Nemo, nor could I ever be Lucy, but my mommy brought me to bring you some happiness back into your life. So, as we walk in this journey of life together, may we create our own wonderful memories and reclaim the beautiful memories that you had with Nemo and Lucy. Love, Lumo."
At the end of the card, James was presented with the beautiful pup. Fortunately, despite being emotional, he was highly welcoming and delighted by the sweet little pooch, who clearly wanted nothing but to love him.
