On Wednesday, the CMT Music Awards had the pleasure of hosting the Queen of England in the form of Darius Rucker. The country singer dressed as the Queen as part of an opening skit at the event.

Daily Mail reported that Rucker wore the same shade of lime green that the Queen recently wore at Prince Harry’s wedding. Unfortunately, Rucker changed into his normal clothes as the night went by.

Rucker, 52, paid tribute to the Queen at the start of the CMT Music Awards broadcast on Wednesday evening. The country singer actually arrived at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena dressed as Queen Elizabeth II.

His costume was part of a sketch based on the idea that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan had gone to Nashville for their wedding after-party.

Rucker went all out for the sketch by wearing the same shade of lime that the Queen wore on May 19. He also included a broach similar to the one she had on that day.

The country singer didn’t just stop there; he even approximated the Queen's hat. Making sure that the one he wore also had the purple decorations.

The hosts for the evening, Little Big Town couldn’t help but gush over how marvelously preserved 'the Queen' looked at the grand old age of 92. Rucker was also seen with his queenly blazer and hat when he settled into his seat next to his son Jack.

At some point, though, he swapped out the outfit for a charcoal jacket and no hat. He was seen in the audience with a beverage can wrapped in paper.

Rucker mingled sociably with a grinning Sam Hunt, who wore a blue suit with a white dress shirt and no tie. The country singer didn’t bring back his royal side when he posed with his son on the event's grey carpet.

He also stuck to his more toned down look when he took the stage with Jason Aldean, Charles Kelley, and Luke Bryan to close out the show. Rucker, who was formerly the lead singer of Hootie And The Blowfish, gave a marvelous rendition of his song Straight To Hell.
