'Modern Family' star Ariel Winter pays tribute to co-star Jackson Odell who was found dead at 20
The actress took to social media to share her grief after hearing of her friend's sudden and unexpected death.
Jackson Odell was just 20 years old when he was found unresponsive at his Tarzana home on June 8. Shortly afterwards, he was declared dead.
Ariel Winter, an old friend and costar, was devastated to hear about his sudden passing, and took to her Twitter account to share her grief over his loss.
"Devastated to hear about the passing of Jackson Odell," Winter wrote. "I knew Jackson since we were 12 years old, and he even appeared on Modern Family. We didn't talk much as we entered into our high school years, but I'm glad I got to spend time with him before his end."
She was particularly struck by how young Odell was at the time of his death, the same age that she is.
Odell was best known for his role on The Goldbergs, but also made an appearance on the show Winter stars on, Modern Family.
Shortly after Winter shared her tweet, the Odell family confirmed the news.
"The Odell family has lost our beloved son and brother, Jackson Odell, on Friday," they wrote. "He will always be a shining light and a brilliant, loving and talented soul. He had so much more to share. Our family will always carry that truth forward. Our wish is that the rest of the world who knew and loved him does so as well."
At this time, there has been no official cause of death revealed, but no foul play is suspected.
Odell was staying at a sober living home in California's San Fernando Valley at the time of his passing.
