Chita Rivera, 85, wears a bright outfit for 2018 Tony Awards
Chita Rivera looked dazzling in her crimson outfit for the recently-held 72nd Tony Awards.
The 85-year-old appeared youthful in her bright red ensemble when she stepped out on the red carpet at the Radio City Music Hall for the annual Tony Awards on June 10, 2018.
The Broadway star donned a floor-length, crimson dress that had an off-shoulder design on one end. The gown, even though it was plain, looked stunning on Rivera as it hugged her toned dancer’s body.
Rivera matched the outfit with an equally bright full-sleeved, see-through wrap. Her makeup was on point and emphasized her lips with her dark shade of lipstick.
Staying loyal to the color red, her nails were also painted with the same shade as her outfit, as well as her shoes and her purse.
Rivera embodied confidence as she switched poses for the cameras on the red carpet.
The Tony Awards’ official Instagram page posted a photo of the star and fans gushed over her in the comments section. Some fans called her a legend and others called her the queen.
The Broadway star was one of the two recipients of 2018’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 1961, she was nominated for the first time for a competitive Tony Award. Her latest one was during 2015.
She won two Tony Awards for her performances in 1984’s The Rink and 1993’s Kiss Of The Spider-Woman.
Aside from her talent, she received a huge help from her outstanding songwriting team, Kander and Ebb.
With the emergence of shows being transformed into movies, Rivera has lost out on some of her roles.
Her famous role in West Side Story, Anita, was given to Rita Moreno, who had won an Oscar. Her character Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie also went to Janet Leigh.
Despite the drawbacks, Rivera remains as one of the pillars and icons in Broadway. For more stories about her, visit our Twitter account, @amomama_usa.
