Kirk Franklin's sister sentenced to 30 years in prison

Gospel singer and choir director Kirk Franklin took to Instagram to reveal that his sister had been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The image that Franklin uploaded read that his sister, whose name has not been revealed, was sentenced to serve three decades in jail. His post ended with a message that set clear how shocked Franklin was: ‘I now fell the weight of wondering if I could’ve done more.'

As soon as he uploaded that post, his fans and followers took to the comment section to share their support. One of them was Instagram user Denise Hope, who pointed out that she was praying for Franklin.

Apart from that, she confessed that even though Franklin was feeling bad, he should always keep in mind that people sometimes need to hit rock bottom in order to hear God speaking to them.

Cynthia Carrier, another Instagram user, chimed in and said that Franklin was not God, so he should not be feeling like he could have done more. Carrier finally added that she would be praying for his heart.

So far, the charges for which Franklin’s sister was sentenced have not been released. However, following the woman’s criminal record history and what Franklin himself has said about her, the crime might be related to drugs.

Bossip reported that back in 2015, Franklin spoke up about his younger sister’s incarceration. He revealed that she spent 10 years in jail facing drug-related charges because her then-boyfriend introduced her to not only selling but using drugs.

When the unnamed man was arrested for drug trafficking, Franklin’s sister was arrested with him, too. Ten years after that, it was determined that the woman was ready to be brought back into society.

However, things didn’t change. Franklin added that his sister started using drugs again and started being ‘very reckless with her body.

The musician finally added that she was using her own body to pay for her habit.
