The Beninese and American actor and model has been enjoying a vacation with his young son back to the country of his birth, and has shared photos from their travels to his social media accounts.

Djimon Hounsou was born in Cotonou, Benin, in April 1964. When he was 12, the family immigrated to France, where he started a career as a model before eventually making the move over to the United States in 1990.

Since then, his career has skyrocketed, and he's even earned himself a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing Korath the Pursuer in Guardians of the Galaxy, a role he will reprise in 2019's Captain Marvel.

But despite having made it big, Hounsou has not forgotten his very recent African roots. Recently, he took his only son, Kenzo Lee, who he shares with ex-girlfriend Kimora Lee Simmons, with him to visit Benin.

Naturally, he shared some photos of the trip to Instagram, where fans could see the actor and his son walking side by side with sand and palm trees in the background.

In the image, the 9-year-old and his father are dressed similarly in dark jeans and a white t-shirt each, although Kenzo's shirt had a number of navy blue stripes on it.

Another image the actor shared showed Kenzo sitting on his lap as Hounsou held onto him.

In that image, Kenzo wore a pale yellow t-shirt, while Hounsou wore a white t-shirt and a khaki and black cap with dark sunglasses.

The photo also demonstrated the father and son's close resemblance to one another. Kenzo has certainly inherited his father's dark complexion, nose and eyes, and seems to be growing into a veritable mini-me of the actor.

Kenzo also has a number of half-siblings on his mother's side.

Before her relationship with Hounsou, Kimora was married to Russell Simmons. The couple had two daughters together during their marriage, Ming Lee Simmons who was born in 2000, and Aoki Lee Simons who was born in 2002.

Since she and Hounsou split, she has remarried Tim Leissner, and the couple welcomed a baby boy in 2015.
