Thomas Markle claims daughter is terrified: 'I know her smile'

The father of the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle shared his opinion about the royal family’s ways and the toll it may be taking on his daughter.

The royal wedding between Prince Harry and former actress Meghan Markle was one of the most anticipated events of the year.

And while Meghan seems to be easing into her new life as a royal, her father is worried for her happiness. According to The Sun, the Duchess’ father Thomas Markle suspects that she may be under tremendous stress.

The 36-year-old’s father stated in an interview that Meghan may be struggling to keep up with the drastic change in her lifestyle as a former TV personality.

Thomas opened up about his fear that Meghan may be holding her real self back while putting on a prim-and-proper façade to comply with her royal duties and status.

In his opinion, Meghan is currently terrified about the changes in her life, and he claims that her smile gives it away.

The 73-year-old stated that Meghan’s smile, which he has known and loved for years, seems to have changed. Thomas added that her overwhelmed state of mind reflected in her eyes and her face.

Thomas, who was not present at the royal wedding, asserted that he was concerned about the change in Meghan’s demeanor, and pointed out particularly at the way in which her smile changed.

He highlighted that Meghan’s smile was far from being simply a stage smile; he suspected it was a smile with pain hidden behind it.

Thomas acknowledges that the smile may have only denoted a few tough days, however, he continues to worry about her happiness. He suspects that Meghan is under a lot of pressure since her wedding.

Speaking of the monarchy, Thomas stated that the royal family was ‘outdated’ and getting married into the family came at the cost of being under constant pressure.

Thomas described his daughter’s royal look as a character from an old movie.

He questioned the royal family’s rule of the women having to cover their knees and equated the dressing style of the family to that of the 1930s era.

The father of the new royal also spoke about the change in his relationship with his daughter, claiming that the royal family members were distancing him from her ever since his interview with Good Morning Britain.
