"Mood: #Summer," Carey captioned the sultry snap. One can surmise it is a throwback photo as the singer wrote the hashtag #fbf, which means Flashback Friday.

Known for her five-octave vocal range, Carey rose to prominence with the release of her debut album, Mariah Carey, in 1990.

Four tracks from the album became massive hits, namely: 'Visions of Love', 'Love Takes Time', 'Someday', and 'I Don't Wanna Cry'.

Carey is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 200 million records worldwide.

She has also won several Grammy awards, World Music Awards, American Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards.

The global superstar recently opened up about her struggles with bipolar disorder.

As reported by PEOPLE, Carey was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2001. At the time, she was hospitalized for a physical and mental breakdown.

"I didn't want to believe it. Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me," she was quoted as saying in the PEOPLE report.

She continued: "It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn't do that anymore. I sought and received treatment. I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love - writing songs and making music."

The star is battling her bipolar disorder by undergoing therapy and taking medication.
