'DWTS' star James Hinchcliffe is now officially engaged

Canadian Indy racecar driver James Hinchcliffe took to his social media to reveal that he had proposed to his girlfriend, actress Becky Dalton. His choice of words for the special announcement is hilarious.

The 31-year-old better known outside the racing world for his notorious participation in the dance competition show Dancing With The Stars, broke the good news on his Instagram on July 23.

‘Wait, what?! I thought they said “til DEBT do us part”!’ Hinchcliffe captioned the snapshot of himself and his now-fiancée, 29, flaunting the engagement ring on the Total Frat Movie star’s finger. He added the hashtag #BeckyGetsHinched.

Dalton posted the same image of the two with perplex looks on their faces to her own Instagram account, proving to have the same kind of humor as her future husband, with her caption. ‘Just got served a life sentence,’ she wrote.

Although only dating since 2015, they have known each other since their teenage years, as the two went to the same high school, where they took an acting class together. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa

As Hinchcliffe confessed later, he was attracted to Dalton since their school years, but never got the courage to ask her out officially. All he dared to do was to take her as a date to his prom, as a ‘friend.’

Following Hinchcliffe’s graduation, they both took separate ways and years went by, leaving his platonic love as a sweet memory of the past, until a near-fatal event prompted them to reunite, as Dalton shared with New York Post.

‘We went 12 years without seeing each other. Randomly, we would message each other through Facebook just to say, "Congratulations," because he always wanted to be a race car driver and I always wanted to be an actress,’ she said.

After Hinchcliffe suffered his horrific 2015 accident at practice for the Indianapolis 500, the couple started to become closer once again and this time a romance sparked.

Despite acting ‘cool’ about this, Hinchcliffe’s engagement to Dalton is probably something he dreamt about for quite a long time. Their love story sounds like something out of a romantic movie.
