Despite the media frenzy caused by one undone button, etiquette expert Myka Meier told People that Meghan didn't know Royal protocol. She explained:
"Accidents or wardrobe malfunctions are not considered going against dress code rules."
She added that it's only breaking protocol if a person shows a "blatant disregard" for the rules set in place as a means to show respect.
Meier believes that Meghan didn't do it deliberately because she immediately buttoned the dress back up when she realized what had happened. But Twitter users disagree.
A user known as Joy Musa criticized Meghan for wearing black, "like someone attending a funeral," and added that the "deliberately [flaunted] her bra for the camera."
Musa also said that Meghan "stole the show" with the wardrobe malfunction, diverting the attention away from the 27-year-old bride and 30-year-old groom.
Darlene Foster wrote, "I see London, I see France, I see Meghan's... well not underpants but just as embarrassing a moment."
In her defense, Foster wrote that Meghan wore a lovely bra, at least, while Stylist Magazine reminded their readers that yes, just like millions of women from across the globe, Meghan also wears a bra.
Meghan isn't the only Royal prone to wardrobe malfunction. The Duchess of Cambridge battle a strong gust of wind while visiting India two years ago.
It has since been dubbed as her Monroe moment. Read more about the duchess's controversial outfits here.
