Camilla was previously married to Andrew Parker Bowles and had two children from her first marriage, Tom and Laura. The now-Duchess who was part of a ‘love triangle’ between Princess Diana and Prince Charles, went on to marry the Prince in 2005.

However, despite her expectations, she was practically imprisoned in her family home after the affair became public knowledge to deter public interest in her and Charles’s personal life.

According to People, the Duchess confessed that she could not go anywhere, and she just stayed home for almost a year with her children. Camilla reportedly told The Mail on Sunday's You Magazine that it was the worst time of her life:

“It was horrid. It was a deeply unpleasant time and I wouldn’t want to put my worst enemy through it. I couldn’t have survived it without my family.”

“Sometimes you get up in the morning and think you can’t do it, and you just have to. The minute you stop it’s like a balloon, you run out of puff — you sort of collapse in a heap.”

Camilla turned 71 in July 2018, and she spoke about her personal life with Charles prior to her birthday last year. The book by Princess Diana's biographer, Andrew Morton, "Diana: Her True Story" was published right before Camilla’s interview.

As we have all heard, Princess Diana knew that Camilla stood between her and Prince Charles.

She reportedly spoke to Camilla about it, saying that she was no fool and understood exactly what was going on. Diana went so far as having told Camilla that she “was not born yesterday.”

Camilla had replied that Diana should stop being bitter because she had everything a woman could wish for, including her two children and “all the men in the world.” However, Diana only ever wanted her own husband back.

Even after Diana’s death, Camilla was desperately unhappy, and many of Diana's fans called that simply a case of "karma."
