Karl Malone’s son, KJ Malone, is tired of people bringing up his father’s past, and he let them know it via social media. According to Essentially Sports, the Netflix/ESPN documentary, “The Last Dance” brought back memories of the basketballer's past with the release of its latest episodes.

The episodes, which focused on Karl and his Utah Jazz side, showed the team’s two consecutive losses against Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls during the 1998 NBA finals.

Trouble began when Karl impregnated 13-year-old Gloria Bell during his days as a student at Louisiana Tech. Although the incident wasn’t talked about back then, it has become attached to the 14-time NBA All-Star’s legacy.

Following the backlash his father got after the episodes’ release, KJ took to Twitter to defend his father with a video where he told internet trolls that Karl was not only a good father to his children but also an upstanding man. In the emotional clip, the basketballer’s son is heard saying:

“It doesn’t only hurt me. It hurts me seeing my mom. I just want to let you all know, my dad, he’s a great person.”

KJ followed the tweet up with a second and third part where he stated that his father “still takes care of Demetrius. Demetrius is my brother, I love him to death.” His mother, Kay Kinsley, also posted the clip via her Instagram with the claim that she was proud of her son for speaking up.
