During Motown's anniversary, Claudette spoke extensively on the humble beginning and how her members collaborated with Motown founder Berry Gordy to birth one of the most revered record labels.
The star recalled that she and her group members which included Smokey and some of her family members had just experienced rejection during an audition, but Gordy noticed them.
The music executive approached The Miracles commending them for playing original songs. He then asked if they had more and the group attested to having hundreds of songs. They soon birthed an iconic collaboration.
Claudette noted that she was not very much a spotlight person and while she could sing, she never saw herself threading the music path. She always wanted to be a school teacher, but her music grew.
These days, Claudette has moved on with her career, attaining more milestones in entertainment. As of 2014, she and Smokey were involved in legal issues regarding his plan to reclaim the rights over his old-time songs.
Claudette, who was married to him from 1957 to 1986, requested to get a 50% cut from what her former husband would gain. However, this resulted in a tussle between the pair’s attorneys. They eventually called a truce at the time.
