Closer Weekly: Here is why Betty White is not going to retire at age 96

Betty White is one of the most famous faces in the entertainment industry and, despite her age, she doesn't seem to want to stop working.

Retirement is not an option for the 96-year-old, who has been in the show business for nearly 80 years, a feat that few very can accomplish.

According to Closer Weekly, Steven J. Boettcher, a friend of the actress, revealed that she doesn't plan on retiring anytime soon because she loves working.

Boettcher, who also co-directed the new documentary about White, titled "Betty White: First Lady of Television," claimed that she told him that she would 'be in the saddle forever.'

A NEW DOCUMENTARY

The director also said that White loved the challenge of working in front of the camera and everyone was very lucky for being able to see her live this long.

The PBS documentary about White's life, which included her illustrious career, premiered on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, but the main star was granted a sneak peek of the reel back in January as part of her birthday celebrations.

A PRESTIGIOUS CAREER

The 96-year-old started acting in her 20s, but even though she has a very rich career, she never took anything for granted and has always been very humble when it comes to her success.

Ultimately, White claimed that she was happy for always being a part of some project, which gave her the much-needed challenge that she kept looking for.

LOVED BY ALL

"Betty White: First Lady of Television" was filmed over the course of 10 years; during that time, Boettcher had the privilege of becoming very close to White, developing a friendship with her and learning everything possible about the legend.

He spoke highly of her, considering White a very lovely person to work with and someone who remembered the names of every person on set, including their families and pets.
