Laila Ali shows off her '200 pounds' in tight black dress after weight gain
Laila Ali has been in the spotlight since she was a little girl. The daughter of legendary boxing champion Muhammad Ali, she followed her dad’s steps and also became a boxer. These days, she’s a dedicated mom and wife, and while she still takes care of herself, she’s rocking a fuller body.
Laila Ali looks gorgeous in a recent pic shared to her Instagram account. In the pic, the 40-year-old looks stunning donning an off-the-shoulder tight black dress as she poses with a hand on her waist looking to something in the front. Her hair is parted at the side, and she chose some light silver jewelry to complement her look.
Ali, who recently celebrated her 11th wedding anniversary with Curtis Conway, revealed to her followers that she recently gained some weight, and she’s not ashamed to say it as it favors her figure.
“Don’t think I’m not working this 200 pounds until I’m back down to my usual 185,” she captioned the pic. Fans immediately took over her comment section to praise the former boxer and cookbook author.
One user wrote “Great photo. Hey, Laila Ali, you are still Looking great. You don't look 200 lbs. Be blessed,” and another added “Laila u wear it well, just beautiful!!!!,” and a third one added:
“You are the epitome of perfect! Your rawness and true love for life and being healthy inspire me to push harder! Thank you for all that you do to uplift women and bring power within.”
In an interview with HealthyIsh, she did earlier this year, Laila revealed that while she was a boxing champion, she used to take care of her diet because of the extenuate physical activity her body had to go through in every match.
Now that she’s a mother of two, she’s still taking care of her diet, but she eats whenever she’s hungry and doesn’t put that many limitations to her food. Her secret is to have a workout routine every day.
“That drive is always in me to get that hard work out in,” she said. “I have had girlfriends say, 'Hey, you wanna go walking?’ And I’m just not interested. I’m like 'Uh, no, I’m good.’ But they keep inviting me!” Instead of walking, she prefers to do some HIIT workout on her Peloton bike.
Ali revealed that as a boxer, working out was almost her job. She would go jogging in the morning and the boxing in the afternoon. "Now, I don't have that lifestyle," she said. "When I work out, I’ll do high-intensity workouts but for shorter periods of time, and I’m always switching it up."
Laila, who didn’t hesitate when it came to choosing her career path and following her father into the world of sports, is not going to be encouraging her kids to take into boxing or football.
“They’re just dangerous sports,” she said, and continued:
“They’re high stress on the body, and I just wouldn’t want that for them. But obviously I know they’re going to do what their hearts desire, and I’m going to support them.”
