Queen Latifah dazzles in patterned green gown in throwback picture

As she was set to perform this year at Hollywood Bowl, Queen Latifah shared a throwback photo donning a stunning, green gown during her performance in 2007.

On Instagram, Queen Latifah posted the series of throwback shots of her soulfully singing on stage more than a decade ago in Los Angeles, California. She was wearing a long gown that featured what appeared to be tie-dyed patterns.

The sleeveless, green gown was embellished with a shimmering black lining on the waist to accentuate her figure, and it also had the same black textile on the straps.

Fans were quick to post comments of praises about the singer and expressed how they’re looking forward to seeing her perform this year on August 22.

On the Hollywood Bowl’s website, it stated that the “ever-versatile Queen Latifah returns to her throne for a soul-driven set showcasing the emotional power of her voice and her sophisticated presence as a singer.”

The Instagram post follows the news that the singer will be honored this year with the 20th annual Marian Anderson Award.

The event is a gala, which will happen in November in Philadelphia.

Mayor Jim Kenney of Philadelphia announced the good news on August 21.

He said, “I can’t think of anyone more vibrant and responsive in the community. A great model for our kids.”

The said award is given to musicians and actors who show great talent both in artistry and altruism.

Queen Latifah has been known to be an advocate for black women in the music and film.

She previously partnered her production company, Flavor Unit Entertainment, with Essence Ventures. She donated $20 million to assist black filmmakers and fund their film and television projects.

Queen Latifah became widely known in the hip-hop scene 1989 after she released her single, “Ladies First.”

Since then, she has become a household name and also found a career in television, film, and business.

Her work has also been recognized in the past as she had won many awards, such as a Golden Globe and three BET awards. The multi-talented artist is also considered as one of the hip-hop artists who has been nominated for an Academy Award.

Even though she has been in the industry for a long time, Queen Latifah continues to spark conversation online.

Previously, she gained social media attention when she posted a photo of herself and the rapper, Common. On the Instagram shot, Common can be seen kissing her on the cheek following a successful duo performance at the Essence Music Festival.
