JOHNSON SAID ANASTASIA WAS THEIR “BABY”
Johnson first made the announcement on her Instagram profile along with a series of photos with Anastasia.
She wrote, "Our sweet angel Anastasia unexpectedly passed away last night. We are in complete and utter shock. I have truly never felt this type of sadness before.”
Johnson went on to say that Anastasia made their family of three official.
"We treated you like our baby cause you definitely were. I wish you could have been a flower girl at our wedding, but I know you’ll be there in spirit. Go bark at everyone and everything and run around in heaven my love. We love and miss you so much," she went on.
Many fans of the couple shared sweet messages in the comments section.
THE WEDDING
Amid the loss, 32-year-old Chmerkovskiy and Johnson still have to plan their wedding.
The pair started dating in 2015. Since then, they were in an on-again-off-again relationship, but they haven’t parted ways since 2017.
ASKING JOHNSON’S FATHER FOR PERMISSION
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Chmerkovskiy shared that he first asked Johnson’s father for his permission when they took a stop in Utah from their tour. It was a month before the proposal.
Johnson shared that asking her father’s permission was really important to her. It was the first thing she asked right after she said “yes” to Chmerkovskiy.
"Everyone does it different and it’s beautiful regardless but the fact that I was able to speak to her dad and ask for his permission, and he gave it, so it was a beautiful thing and I knew how much it meant to her too," said Chmerkovskiy.
The couple had been engaged since June when he asked Johnson during a trip to Venice, Italy. It was a month following Johnson’s first Mirror Ball trophy win on “Dancing With the Stars” during the all-athlete season with Adam Rippon.
