'Bachelor' contestant arrested in Las Vegas for domestic battery
A former "Bachelor" star has been arrested for domestic battery involving her boyfriend. She was reportedly intoxicated at a party when the incident occurred.
Amanda Stanton, a fan favorite from the “Bachelor” and “Bachelor in Paradise” was arrested for domestic battery this weekend.
According to a report by TMZ, Stanton was at a bachelorette party with her boyfriend and her friends in a room at The Encore in Las Vegas when security showed up after receiving a noise complaint. The reality star’s boyfriend, Bobby Jacobs was talking to the guard when an intoxicated Stanton shoved Jacobs as she tried to intervene.
The security who witnessed Stanton’s shove called the police who later arrested her for misdemeanor domestic violence.
Further reports suggest the noise complaint the security responded to was due to an alleged fight between Stanton and Jacobs. Stanton had reportedly battered Jacobs.
After the shoving incident, the mother-of-two was taken to the Clark County Detention Center where she stayed until Monday, the day of her release.
By Tuesday, all seemed well with Stanton and her boyfriend when the star posted a photo of the two of them on her Instagram story. They were both on a private jet most likely heading home. She also shared photos from their Vegas stay earlier in the week.
The couple has yet to comment regarding Stanton’s arrest but her spokesperson, Steve Honig released a statement saying
“Amanda is embarrassed and ashamed this happened and sincerely apologizes to hotel security and the Las Vegas Police Department."
"Amanda is a gentle, respectful person who has never gotten physical with anyone under any circumstance. That evening she had a few drinks at a bachelorette party and when hotel security asked her and Bobby to quiet down, she got a bit rambunctious."
According to the rep, the shove Stanton was arrested for was meant to be a playful one, even her boyfriend told security that night it wasn’t “ill-intended.” The couple also believes Stanton’s drink may have been drugged that night explaining her ill behavior.
Stanton was a favorite when she competed for Ben Higgins’ heart on Season 20 of “The Bachelor.” She made it to the final four before she was eliminated. She reappeared on the third season of “Bachelor in Paradise” accepting the proposal of Josh Murray. They called off their engagement in December 2016. On Season 4 of the same show, she was eliminated on the fourth week.
A few months ago, Stanton opened up to Us Weekly about her relationship with Jacobs and revealed they met on Instagram.
We don’t really have a great story. I wish we had a more exciting story. We were saying that we should just say we met at the dog park or something. … I guess it’s pretty normal these days. It just is funny to say.”
